Another heritage station dies

The final nail in the coffin for WIST happened at noon saturday dec 8, 2012. Now a religious station. Could have done better by just shutting it down and returned the license to the FCC.
 
I Think the contract for Tulane sports is still at WIST. I heard a basketball game broadcasted here, but for how much longer? ???
 
That station lost it's heritage back in the 80's when Price Communications destroyed it.
 
690 was once a great station. On a clear day you could pick them up all the way to Jackson, MS. The signal is no where near what it once was. Sorry to see it go, I always hoped someone would restore WTIX maybe with oldies. That will never happen now.
Maybe someone should get the WTIX call letters and put them on 1450 AM, since that was the original home of WTIX before they moved to 690.
