Yeah, just another Haitian station stepping on the last good DX frequency in the market. 96.5 is still on the air after being "visited" a couple of weeks ago. While 94.9 is not as strong as 96.5, it does cover the city. It would be nice for these stations to say "bye, bye", so that DX'ing can resume to it's normal levels. These boots are a major pain in the a**.

I get 96.5 in Dorchester, I start losing it around Fields Corner.

Big City 101.3 has a VERY STRONG signal. They have a good variety of Hip Hop, New R&B, and Caribbean.
I get it a very little driving around in parts of Revere, and beleave it or not in Peabody, Ma and in Danvers , Ma

Yes I've gotten 101.3 in Danvers and also N. Reading (intersection of Rts 28 & 62).

Heading down Route 95 south I heard 101.3 to somewhere around Walpole or Sharon, until the IBOC hiss from adjacent 101.5 Providence overcomes it.

Big City 101.3 and 106.1 Touch Fm,The Best Music Stations in Boston .

Caught an old school r & b mix show in the mornings near Ashmont/Dorchester on 100.3. Good to hear what I liked on WILD somewhere on the dial.

Tom Taylor's r-i.com column says pirates have been fined in Brooklyn & Boston ($17k for Touch FM) but it's too little too late:

"the Boston “Touch FM” has all the trappings of a legitimate commercial station – including some staffers who used to work in Boston radio. The real lesson of yesterday’s two Forfeiture Orders from the Commission is that the agency’s enforcement powers are too weak to deal with the problem"

Tom Taylor's column is free by email subscription only and is associated with this site.
FCC Daily Digest entry. I'm guessing Clemons does not intend to pay...

btw Touch's myspace site says the call letters are "LP-WTCH" (sic). There is no such LPFM officially
licensed for Boston and on that frequency, though the station's site and myspace site look legit.
btw Clemons (as the myspace points out) used to be music dir for WILD

I posted this in the "Part 15, Unlicensed radio in Boston" thread, but feel it applies here also,

There are avenues for people who love radio and want to be on the air and play whatever music they choose. I decided to look into it and I was on the air legally within three days with my own weekly show. I find it funny that these pirate stations who want to serve the community and just love radio so much that they have to break the law sell advertising! There are ways to get on the air legally but you won't get paid for it, I guess you only love radio that much if you're making money off of it!

And, as I've posted before, legitimate LPFM's must be non-commercial per FCC regulations. "Touch" airs commercials. That gives their LPFM claim away as fraudulent immediately (though only people who know about broadcasting regulations know that).

The first time I heard Touch 106.1, I thought it was a legal station from Providence because its signal was weak. It sounds professional like the commercial stations.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't I hear about one of the "higher up's" at Touch 106.1 having been a former police officer? (Or am I thinking of another pirate)

Now isn't THAT ironic --- ! :-\

Touch 106.1 is community radio.

Those who advocate illegal behavior are a major
cause of the problems within their own community.
Keep your nose clean, suck it up, work hard, and
take some responsibility for causing your own problems.
You yourselves are the ones to blame...

Oh wow I just listened to Touch 106.1 FM for the first time and must say it sounds great (the imaging is superb as well)...

I have just added it to the presets in my car 8)
