Another low mark for WGST

As someone who constantly station flips while riding here, there and in between I wanted to share something with my fellow posters:

During a recent weekday when there were numerous tornado warnings in the Atlanta area, of course WSB broke in with live weather reports. Ditto for 920 AM. Heck, even Sports Radio 680 The Fan had Perry giving weather updates.

Meanwhile on WGST, they simply continued playing their canned, syndicated morning talk show as if all was clear and sunny in Atlanta.

How pathetic. How sad. It is amazing at what has happened to this once legitimate station. Screw updating the listener on severe weather alerts. We'd rather use sydicated talk shows because they are cheaper. Down right criminal.
 
Speaking of WGST and blundering; did C2C AM even air last night? I got nothing but local new spots and dead air...at least over the internet. Not sure about regular radio.

The fact is WGST has been destroyed because a bunch of suits who don't understand the Atlanta radio market. Hey, I want WGST to be a player in the news/talk market. WSB certainly needs competition in all areas. This current version of WGST, however, is not getting it done. It's not even close and that pains me, believe it or not.

I have never worked for WGST or for Clear Channel. I speak only as a former listener who is sickened by what has happened to this station. Same thing goes for 96 Rock.

Plenty has been done to destroy WGST, but no one needs to make up stuff about them ,when Bloomquist and co has done enough real damage to point out.

I am in a position to state that the claims made by this poster are completely false. WGST broke into Mike McConnell numerous times during the storms to update the severe weather situation until the system moved out of the area.

Exactly the same person. It is one thing, under the terms of service agreement for this BBS, to offer opinions which may be based on erroneous information. It is quite another to willfully disseminate as fact information that the poster knows to be false, as he has done on more than one occasion. I would think that the administrators of Radio-Info would be a little more concerned about the integrity of their operation.
 
Ummmm, I would have to agree about both stations.. Dont know what they did when the tornadoes were on the radar, BUT both stations are total washes.
Destroy a hertiage news station, and then blow up a Atlanta Brand which was around since 1974? All of this is criminal actions. All of it. Sorry to say I dont think WGST has any chance of compition against WSB. These are the Big Boys, they know how and what to do.. WGST just doesnt.. I still say sell 640 to another religous outlet and do anything but whats being done on the Former 96 rock.
640 would sound better with all preaching all the time than with what is on the air now, and Dave Ramsey could stay.. ;D
 
sadly, i don't think GST is trying to compete with WSB anymore. the goal is to be the alternative, not be "WSB lite." i think, though, that in the coming months, there will be some changes coming. and don't knock the GST news dept., btw. it's not their fault corporate has mandated playing fox news at the top and bottom of every hour, taking away the majority of local newscasts. and it sure as hell isn't their fault that hughes, denny and the kimmer are gone.

Ditto. This might be the first time since I moved here in 1989 that I almost never tune in to WGST. I always thought of them as equal to WSB as far as a station I would listen to, but no more. Sucks saying that. 920am has taken over whatever interest I had in WGST.
