Another Major Change in ATL Radio

This came as a shocker when I heard it last night. I called my source and confirmed it.

After thirteen years, a major Atlanta radio personality is hanging up the cans.

Popular host Rev. Andy will no longer be hosting Psychobilly Freakout on WRAS-FM. The Rev. will be graduating in May, thus making Sen. John Blutarsky's college career seem like a short stretch.

WRAS rules state that all staff must be enrolled at Gerogia State in order to be part of the station. As such, Rev. Andy will no longer be allowed at WRAS, in fact, they have armed guards at the ready in case Rev. Andy tries to break back in to play one last Robert Gordon record.

The last show is scheduled for mid-May.

Andy at Dave-FM said that Rev. Andy's departure will not affect him since they are two different people.
 
Congrats on your impeding graduation, Reverend Andy.

We shouldn't knock the Right Reverend for going to college so long. A lot of people go to college for 13 years.....they're called DOCTORS.

Rev. Andy should have gone to Tech, then he could have been hosting a show at WREK in perpetuity. Some of WREK's best shows are hosted by alumni/community staff.
 
I have been urging the Rev to consider being a professional student. Why be in such a rush to meet the cold, cruel world? Why not stay in the cozy confines of non commercial radio where the men are strong, the women are beautiful, and all the children are above average.
He should consult with the other Rev Andy at DAVE. I'll bet that guy knows all about life in the icebox....
Had I been intelligent enough, like my brother(A CE Tech grad)I would have gone to Tech just to play with the Brainiac automation system they had back in the 70's. An added plus.....the old Dolby system WREK used back in the 70's. I always wanted to play the Dolby alignment tone.

Actually, I've been at GSU for 6 years (part time) and Album 88 for 5 years (4-1/2 years doing Psychobilly Freakout). I tried to beat Mal Murray for "Longest Running DJ", but I ran out of money. The last show will be the first or second Monday in May with me taking over the entire day.

When I grow up I want to be just like Andy at DaveFM!

I probably would have failed out of Intro To Chemistry and been a shame to my entire family. As a result, I would have ended up selling trinkets outside the Five Points MARTA station. This reminds me, I've been wanting to come visit the WREK studio.

Tom, I'm going to miss our time at 88 when we would throw cold cuts on the smokin' hot new 18 year old DJs. You've taught me so much... Like, how to be a pervert at a radio station and get away with it. ;)


I can't help but wonder, how will my leaving Album 88 affect Q100?
 
Just make sure when you thank everyone you met along the way when you get your AIR Award that you remember to give recognition to the guy who first taught you how to run a board. I think the exact quote was, "This is so f'n easy you could get a couple of monkeys to do it." I didn't mean for you to take me literally though!

And anyway, I thought Crifasi held the award for "Longest Running DJ" at WRAS.

I think you may be right about Crifasi. I don't even know how many years he was an 88 DJ. I won't forget you, nor the story about hitting a deer while listening to my show.
