Posted in the Star-Beacon.
WFUN/970 will take the ESPN Radio lineup. Gone are Glenn Beck, Rush, Hannity, C2C, Fox News Radio, and Fox Sports Radio. All but Hannity (which is an ABC/Citadel show) are from CC/Premiere, and were pretty much standard on any typical CC talker.
Interesting that they take ESPN... all but Colin Cowherd and the PMD show will be cleared on WFUN. Their sole local talker at this point, John Broom, goes to the 10a-12p slot on an interim basis. (As OA speculated, and I do agree, likely as a placeholder for Dan Patrick's offering.) WFUN did have Romey up until last year (when Hannity displaced him in the 3p-6p slot), but I wouldn't know if they bring him back or not. Would be a decent fit, though.
I wonder if, whenever all of the CC AMs are finally sold (if ever) and spun off by "Freqency Partners" like soiled diapers to other various interests, do they individually yank off Fox Sports Radio for, say, ESPN - or something else? CC's stake in that network lent it to give it affil status on WFUN, WLEC-Sandusky, WTTF-Tiffin, WONW-Defiance, WMAN-Mansfield, WMRN-Marion, etc., etc.
But, all in all, a good first start for Media One. Not staying with the status quo, and trying to do something different. Don't you wish it could happen in Sandusky?
