Another Miller flip...(soapbox on)

As recently reported from someone on this board, Miller flipped Sumter/Florence 93.7 signal to AC as Star, and now they did the same with 105.1 in Orangeburg. Too bad no one is listening or cares. I thought when Miller acquired all these stations that they were gonna bring something exciting and different to the table and yet keep that local flavor. I actually miss the urban formats on 93.9 in Orangeburg and 94.7 in Sumter, as well as the Top 40 format on that frequency. It's obvious they are aiming for the older demo, but they have no hope for revenue and competition with these stations if they aren't running killer liners and have local jocks to the max. Of course they have jocks, but it's a select 3 or 4 doing shifts on ALL the stations. Come on guys, 93.9 in Columbia is doing nothing. At least bring smooth jazz or something different to the table and advertise the hell out of it.

Miller has already been offered considerable money for 93.9, but he's asking for silly money. Still, don't be surprised to see him cash it in sometime in 2006.

He's got WIGL as close as he can to Columbia. The Inner City ESPN station has a far better Columbia coverage area, considering its a Class A, also held away from Columbia by 2nd Adjacent WARQ.

And those at Inner City have been advised to turn the STEREO **OFF** to improve coverage, but, well I guess they just don't understand how FM and FM stereo works. Or something else.....

I was actually surprised about how well WZMJ gets out even in Stereo. Going to a one-bay and cranking up the power did wonders for the facility. I was surprised they did not turn off the Stereo, either. ESPN used to only be in mono. WTOP-FM Washington turned off the stereo generator and that station, which is a rimshot, BOOMS throughout that metro area and a good portion of Central Virginia.
