ANOTHER National EAS Test?! Here it comes again!

I wonder if the FCC has any type of plan to introduce the EAS to online only streamings.

I just found this, which might be the answer to your original question:

EAS messages are transmitted via AM, FM, broadcast television, cable television and Land Mobile Radio Service, as well as VHF, UHF, and FiOS (wireline video providers). Digital television, satellite television, and digital cable providers, along with Sirius XM satellite radio, IBOC, DAB, smart phones and digital radio broadcasters, have been required to participate in the EAS since December 31, 2006. DirecTV, Dish Network, and all other DBS providers have been required to participate since May 31, 2007.

2 more days. Reminding everyone to mute or turn off your radios, TVs, and smartphones, because they are the ones that are going to air the alert. I think this is the test basically nobody knew was coming, because they were unaware of this, but the only time they noticed was during the first national EAS test on November 9th, 2011, because at the time, it was very new, and FEMA hasn't done this before, and some even aired with some mistakes, but thanks to the new National Periodic Test alert type, things will probably run smoothly than last time.

Just remind everyone that the alert is 2 more days, and to warn you to turn off or mute your TVs, radios, and smartphones at 2:00 PM on Wednesday. The test on Wednesday will be at 2:20 PM.

Today is the day! The National EAS Test is today at 2:20 PM Eastern Time. Oh, and there is good news, but this is for smartphones. WEA (Wireless Emergency Alerts, aka, that scary "AMBER ALERT" system ;) (Florida doesn't air any AMBER Alerts on TV or on radio)) isnt going to participate in the test, meating smartphones will be safe, according to KWCH in Wichita. It is at 2:20 PM EDT, 10 minutes from posting this reply. Since I an not near a TV or radio, I will be safe.:)

On my last post, I said that smartphones were not affected, but now FEMA did say WEA alerts weren't affected, just TVs and radios. ;)
