Another New Anchor at our Gannett Station

From Mimi Jung's twitter (https://twitter.com/MimiJungKING5/status/524276893726810113), Amanda Grace joins KING from WHDH Boston as an anchor for the "evening newscasts." Its not specified which ones, but Greg Copeland tweeted his thanks to Joyce Taylor for helping launch the 4PM and that she would be back to mornings only this week. Copeland anchored the 4PM with weekend anchor Danielle Leigh tonight, and was solo at 9. So... assuming no major changes for Bounds/Matsukawa, I would assume that Amanda Grace will be anchoring the 4PM and probably the 9PM with Greg Copeland, becoming the weeknight "B-team," something pretty typical in other markets but not as common in Seattle.

I'm in Seattle for the weekend. Who are these people anchoring the evening news and what did they do with all the familiar faces?!? I didn't recognize either one of the anchors, nor the sports guy. Thankfully, Lisa Van Cise was doing the weather :)

Amanda was on during Marysville coverage. I was pleasantly impressed...she is natural and in command of what's going on during the newscast. Can't say the same for some others who have been imported to this market during various ownership sweeps.

Well... Schauffler quit; we had Meg Coyle solo for a year on weekend evenings. This board did not like that selection; looks like KING felt the same way as they've sent her back to weekend mornings.

New hire Danielle Leigh is anchoring Saturday evenings with reporter John Langeler, who's been at KING for about three years. She anchors Sunday evenings with reporter Jake Whittenberg... he's been around for about four years.

Despite all the prediction of Gannett cutbacks, they've added anchors across all newscasts. Weekend mornings have co-anchors for the first time (ever) - Natasha Ryan (who has been kicking around for a few years) and Meg Coyle. Weekend evenings have co-anchors as outlined above, and Greg Copeland is joined by Amanda Grace at 9PM.

The only solo newscast left at KING is noon with Mimi Jung. Makes KIROs anchor ranks look pretty thin.

I was just joking around -- hence the :). It seems like some of the more experienced people have quit (Rob Piercy, Shaniqua Manning, etc.). I like the pairing on weekend mornings.

What KING could probably do is have Jake anchor the noon shows with Mimi Jung and John can do both weekend days with Danielle. Greg & Amanda can be the primary fill-ins for Dennis & Lori at 5, 6:30, 7, 10 & 11, while John & Danielle can be the primary fill-ins for Greg & Amanda at 4 & 9.

Put Robin & Maynard in there, and have Kokomo as the bumper music!!!1!!!1!!!11

Hahahahahahaahaha

Okay my curiosity is getting the better of me... Robin and Maynard formerly with KXRX, (not sure what that has to do with TV) and Kokomo by the Beach Boys? What's the connection with KING or Gannett?
