It's a Family affair

I understand that it just happened to Nikki, too. That just s&^%s. They'll both be in a better place soon.

Once again, let's axe the talented folks for syndication and cheap labor.

What are the chances a syndicated morning show will really make it here on FM? Do they not remember 98.1's experiment with John Boy & Billy?

There is another, larger issue here.

If WMBZ just signed an Agreement to run a syndicated program, that implies the station will be staying in its format for the time being. Certainly, this Agreement will be for a period of time, and would bring sanctions, if breached.

That's interesting, as many on this Board have been quick to pull the sheet over the head of the station in its current form.

Could all this change? Sure. But, it's interesting.

Re: It's a Family affair

What are the odds that Entercom is also probably trying to placate some of their displaced talent from their New Orleans cluster? They have (had) some pretty successful properties down there. Just a thought.

Good point, DE. However, most of the syndicated shows are somewhat generic as to fit in with more than one type of format. I've heard John Boy and Billy on everything from country to classic rock. They may not be the best example, but they probably did no worse ratings-wise here than some of the morning shows originating here did. I know that the music was loaded in locally presumably by whomever did the local news and traffic during the show. Someone has to be in studio.
I'd bet the changes aren't over there at BUZZ.
Could the "Kidd" show be used with pretty much any contemporary rock or pop format? I dunno. It's a lot easier to watch from out here. Good luck to all involved.
Strike up another victory to "voice-tracking" and "Cheap labor".

Both of them??

Bad enough to whack Argo, but not my buddy Nikki, too! Nikki, you guys e-mail me if you need anything.

Makes me thankful not to work in that building any more. Just when you think the decision-making couldn't get any worse, it does.

Re: It's a Family affair

I looked at Kidd's website. It appears to be a very family oriented show. I wonder if it's structured like Dumb Boy and Silly, where it can be plugged into any type of format?

If so, it would be a good morning show for anything from a major format change like Jack or just a slight adjustment. Interesting.<P ID="signature">______________

kidd is on a lot of top-40 stations, but his general slant is WAAAAAAAAAAY a/c.

i have heard his show. he's either talking too much about his 15 year old daughter or putting people BACK to sleep. bob & sheri are exciting, too. ick.

Speaking of Entercom

> On WRVR's website I noticed Kenny Bosak's picture is gone. I wonder what happen to him. Wasn't he like a part-time fixture there?
As far as the Buzz, I liked Argo. He had such a Memphis feel to his show. I listened to Brad and Dana this afternoon and they were pretty good. What I cannot understand is Nikki though. She had a great personality and had a good repore with the listeners. She held her own. Maybe more promotion could have helped. But with FM100 gianing numbers with "Whatever", change was bound to happen.

I left WRVR two months ago. From everything I've heard in recent days, I guess I'm the only one to leave Entercom Memphis recently of my own choice.

I had been working weekends at WRVR for three years. I was also asked to fill in occasionally in mornings, middays and afternoons. I had a great time working there, and have nothing but the highest regard for the station and the people in it.

Working three jobs, however, was wearing me out. I was literally working seven days a week. The logical thing to take off my plate was Sunday afternoons on WRVR.

I miss my friends there, and wish them nothing but the best.

Hey, Kenny!!!

You still got that killer golf game going?
Remember our unbridled "belly-laugh" when J. Webb nearly killed himself with a shot that jumped back at him off a stump at Davy Crockett? It was hilarious!
I don't know how many years ago that was but it remains a giggle with me and Tim to this day.
As a matter of fact, Tim has hit a couple that went off trees and nearly got him, and we refer to it as a "Jeff Webb". That was a hoot.
Take Care..-Paul

Ummm, wasn't he also in the New Orleans market? How did he do there, possibly started off sorta 'large' and declined? IMO, Memphis and New Orleans have been the 2 most similar markets.
I enjoyed talking with Argo over the weekend, Nikki is a sweetie, and those 2 were without a doubt the most talented at that station. I do enjoy it when personalities don't sound like something off the Cartoon Network.
