Another one bites the dust

This just in from All Access...

NewsRadio 970 WFLA is looking for our next superstar Morning Show Producer/APD to continue to build on the highly-rated "AM Tampa Bay" and take the show to even higher levels. The previous producer has been rewarded by tranferring back home leaving this unique and rare opportunity. This is a not a job for beginners or those looking for the standard 9-to-5 job. We are looking for someone who is hungry to produce award winning radio, someone who loves following the news and has a knack for finding the pulse of the community. You must be a self-starter who seeks out the best guests and content, not simply scheduling them from a mass email blast. Qualified candidate will also have a passion for web content and understand it importance and relevance to a talk radio show. The website is a VITAL part of this job. If you are interested, please email your resume, aircheck and other pertinent info to [email protected]. NO PHONE CALLS please.

"The previous producer has been rewarded by tranferring back home leaving this unique and rare opportunity."

Is this a new way of saying he was fired? Transferring back home? I have no idea what actually happened, but "transferring back home" sounds pretty strange.

Homesick for Cleveland maybe? :-\

Remember Jack Harris' contest from years ago.....How did that work? Somehow or another contestants had to avoid "winning" a trip to Cleveland.

I love this part of the ad, "The website is a VITAL part of this job". I hope the new person likes data entry.... and why go into depth about what the previous person is or isn't doing? Looks like a lame excuse to try to make the job more important than it is. Did you see the latest PPM ratings for WFLA? Down for the 3rd or 4th month in a row!

Watch in a few weeks, Clear Channel will receive a bequest and "reward" the previous employee back to WFLA...

Did I just read the words "reward" and "transfer" in the same sentence? From what I understand, when somebody in their line of work is "transferred," it usually is antithetical of a "reward." For example, when a police officer is arrested and is "transferred" to desk duty. Or when someone is simply "transferred" to another outlet due to undesired results. There has to be more to this that we don't know.

It was Buffalo, N.Y. ... the running joke was you would enter the contest and hope you were a loser so you didn't have to go. The winner has never been announced so the contest remains ongoing, Jack says. Pretty clever when you think about it.

Police officers are "assigned" to desk duty when they're involved in a routine incident that requires review (such as shooting a suspect). When police officers are arrested, they're "suspended" or "fired." They can get "transferred" from one division to another for a variety of reasons -- needing additional manpower, possessing special skills, having desire to work in a familiar neighborhood, whatever. Same thing can happen in radio or any other business.

Two or three years ago, several people (including the news director and an online producer/reporter) were brought in from somewhere in Ohio ... Cleveland, if memory serves (and as Mike Hennessey mentions). The online guy eventually added morning show producer to his duties. So I suspect this really is a reward -- the opportunity to go back home, if it's the person in question.

"Transfer" doesn't mean a bad thing. It often can mean a very good thing if you *want* to be transferred.

Indeed, if history shows anything, ClearChannel doesn't transfer bad employees ... it sends them packing.

Ryan is going back to WTAM where he came from to be a part of a show he idolizes. He's done amazing things for the WFLA website and we're gonna miss him dearly but this is an oppurtunity he wants badly.

Mike Trivisonno, Clear Channel Cleveland's top conservative talker, actually has been advertising for a new producer on the "Clear Careers" website, so Jack Harris's producer probably got the job.

It's probably a "reward" in that the poor guy doesn't have to work with Harris anymore.

Watch in a few years from now, he'll pop up on Bay News 9 and announce he is "taking his talents to South Beach." :D

Riggie got it right. The rest of you should apply since you know it all.

Correct. We've confirmed on this end of it that Mr. Gohmann will indeed be on Triv's show starting in mid-August.
