Several media outlets today reported NBC's struggling drama, "Outlaw," has officially been canceled. The news comes on the heels of an announcement last week that production had been halted.
The demise of "Outlaw" marks three official cancellations thus far on primetime broadcast TV, with more sure to follow in the near future.
Unlike the other two series given pink slips -- "Lone Star" and "My Generation" -- this series, headlined by Jimmy Smits, is expected to continue airing until all first-run episodes are exhausted. NBC is shifting the series to the graveyard time slot of 8 p.m. (eastern) Saturdays.
As had been speculated, "Dateline" is taking over the 10 p.m. Friday slot, meaning NBC once again will have no scripted programming on the second least-watched night on broadcast TV.
