Another one bites the dust?

KOLE 1340 in Port Arthur has been off the air for several weeks now. I'm not sure the format provided was one with many listeners, or maybe Birach Broadcasting is having financial issues, but it speaks to the problems that AM radio is having today especially in smaller communities.

What a shame that KKMY's one time sister station is gone. Maybe Clear Channel needs to buy it and do something with it. They do a great job with KCOL-FM and KYKR. The OM at CC Beaumont is really good, and could figure out something to put on it! Don't know how easy a 1kw station would be for the sales staff?? But they could throw it in on a combo buy or use it for all the trade stuff LOL

The last time I checked, it was not classical music, but gospel music. The attempt was to staff it with live local talent, but I don't think that lasted very long.
