Another pirate broadcasting XM "Flight 26" on 98.9 in NW Lubbock???

I was driving home on the loop and my radio stopped on 98.9. I thought it was 98.9 out of Snyder for a second...but then I heard it was XM 26. I thought perhaps I was picking up someone's receiver in the car next to me. But it turns out that I wasn't. It came in strong on the West side of the loop near Clovis highway. I then took an exit and went West on Clovis Highway and had the signal all the way out to Shallowater.

I heard it a couple months ago but didn't think anything of it since it was dark the next day, but then i heard it again today.

Looks like free XM radio for citizens that live on the North West side of Lubbock!

I did some more driving around tonight and I had the signal on the loop past 4th street. Lost it almost completely when I got to 50th. Going East on Clovis Highway. I had it strong until I turned on to University. It was dropping in and out near Texas Tech and down Broadway. So the signal is a little more powerful than I thought. Covers almost all of West Lubbock and almost makes it to Eastern Lubbock.

i tuned in this morning and unfortunately, it was silent.

I have been hearing it off and on the past month or so. I'm going to keep tuning it in and perhaps it'll be back up soon.

This could be a nuisance for Lubbock residents that like to listen to Air 1 on 99.1 (although Air 1 has two other frequencies on 94.1 and 107.3)

You gotta wonder about what the point is of broadcasting a pirate signal just to simulcast an XM channel though.

It's an enthusiast who thinks that channel is so great everyone should be able to hear it for free, and volunteers the juice and xmtr.
