This is WIXX Green Bay, WI. Personally I think its a really cool station. WIFC in Wausau has a playlist almost exact to this with a few more rhythmic tracks in there. Both stations get pretty decent ratings in their markets. Usually top 2. WIXX's sister WLYD is rhythmic CHR that plays most of the rhythmic tracks that are on the CHR chart. Their idea apparently was to put the rock on one and the rhythmic on the other. When KISS FM in Milwaukee tweaked into the rhythmic direction in February 2003, they started adding stuff like Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, etc to their sister Hot AC WMYX but all that fell through and WXSS went back into the more mainstream (but rhythmic leaning) direction. Any thoughts?<P ID="signature">______________

Yeah, it's a shame WIXX is still considered a Mainstream CHR. This is similar to Star 94 Atlanta (actually Star sounds BETTER!). Q-100 is the real CHR in Atlanta, just like Kiss 95.9 was the real CHR in Green Bay for a number of years.
WIXX sounded much better, and more balanced a decade ago. Oh, how the mighty have fallen :(

WIXX isn't trying to be CHR, and doesn't present itself as such. As Jeremy indicated, it is the other end of a two-headed CHR monster comprised of itself and Wild 99.7. Wild effectively destroyed CHR Kiss 95.9 in quick order when it hit the air. I think despite this being kind of a strange concept with all of the modern rock tracks, the stations sound good. And because the only other rock in the market is classic or active, they can and do get away with this.

It's kind of a cool way to present current hits - One Modern AC/Modern Rock hybrid, and one Rhythmic station. It works for that particular market, it's unique, and the ratings prove the fact that it's a great idea. Apparently Wild doesn't reach into the Appleton market, so that market is left without any rhythmic music (besides maybe Will Smith).

On the topic of the Green Bay / Appleton market, it is home to one of the best pure classic rockers, 105.7 WAPL, now known as "Wisconsin's Rock Station," but previously had a more clever monicker, "The Rockin' Apple."
