Another Smooth Jazz station bites the dust...

95.7 is a Rhythmic AC..... They arent cutting edge on any new hip hop, plus they mix in music like Prince....... Not exactly a big drawl for the Rhythmic Chr Demo.

First you guys are trying to kill off the brand new Chr station, now your trying to kill the heritage KQKS...... Do you guys hate CHR and Rhythmic music that bad????

First off KQKS has been a very dull station to listen to for yrs! They never play anything new or anything exciting, their playlist has become some bland that it's not even funny. So yes if we can kill off KQKS or at least have them change format and dump their current format cool. For 59.7 at least they got personality and at least thier play list is exciting and enjoyable to listen to. For Lincoln to move The Fan to 104.3 I think that was a smart move at least people can now listen to sports like basketball and more on The FM Dial. and which in HD should be impressive to hear. :)

Maybe so but I for one don't like that stuff on FM. I hate talk radio of any kind. I want music, not talk.

Well see, the thing is, before long, talk on FM will soon become the defacto standard just as it was on AM after Top 40 music went away. That's because terrestrial radio will eventually be forced to give way to Satellite and/or Internet Radio (Including podcasting) for music once the fat cats at the RIAA finally realize just how BENEFICIAL it would be for them to have their stuff on Satellite Radio providers and Internet Radio stations and podcasts.

But until it DOES happen.....

Cheers :D.

Actually, there's a bigger reason you'll see more FM news/talkers, and you'll see them before the RIAA ever realizes the error of its ways, which may not ever happen. Speaking generally, people in their 20's don't listen to AM. With approximately half the 20-somethings being 25-29, which puts them in the lucrative 25-54 demo, news/talkers will have to do something soon to get those listeners. I don't see AM HD as being the answer to getting those people to turn on talk programming, and, unless HD FM catches on quickly, you're going to see more FM music stations flipping to reach that audience.

I dont mind talk radio, I listen sometimes and it does indeed serve an important purpose. However I personally think the talk belongs on the AM side, preferably on high power stations like that Monster 850 KOA, which booms into Indiana over 1000 miles away clear as a bell most nights. For talk I dont believe in wasting the FM sound quality for a station that simply needs to be audible and in mono and thats about it. Talk radio belongs on AM where the sound quality is suitable for this purpose and the signals reach out hundreds of miles away to deliver the news weather, Emergencys and stuff over a large area where people long ways away can still listen. Compare the signal oof 104.3 which has about 60 miles of usable signal away from Denver, maybe 90 if you can deal with static, but this is a pretty high powered station compared to many in the U.S, I know its a weak FM compared to other Denver power houses but still, thats my point. The mighty KOA can be heard clearly from the west coast of California to Indiana, and it can be Dxed as far away as places like New York and even (gasp) Over to hawaii... I would hate to see AM radio die off, its great for long distance news coverage, unlike FM.... Fm is great for music due to the Sound Quality and it serves the immediated area. I hate to see FM signals being wasted for talk, just like it would be pointless to put a station like Rhythmic KQKS on 50 kw blowtorch like 850 KOA.
