Another Sports Talk in Raleigh?

This isn't news. Just an opinion question. Considering the two new sports networks being started in 2013 and the fact that neither the Fan or the Buzz have any real local identity, could their be room for another FM sports talker in Raleigh?

Please no. And certainly not on FM, since some music formats aren't even covered.

What is "local identity?"
The Buzz and the Fan seem to do a lot of "local," play-by-play, after-game shows, local talk, local interviews, etc. Coach K is on mooer than Leave It..To Beavah reruns.
With the WRAL association, I don't think The Fan could get much more "local identity." WRAL has meant "Raleigh" for 50 years (not just the call letters).

The only way I could see someone changing is if WRAL/The Fan went with the CBS Sports Radio network.
Then someone else might take up ESPN just for the ease of programming and the Mothership association. Other than that it doesn't seem worth the work for most companies to pursue a new sports station.
It would take the right kind of sales team off the bat. A startup sports station (even with ESPN or CBS) would be a hard sell against the two established sports stations for advertisers.Good luck to anyone who might try it though.

Are we ever going to see an Active/Alternative rock station in this market. Change either 105.1, 93.9, or 102.5. There is no need for 3 CHR stations, especially 105.1 and 93.9, both owned by CC and both sound exactly the same. Flip one to Rock.

Actually, The Buzz is affiliated with the CBS Sports Network, one of only two stations in NC (the other being WFNZ in Charlotte) that signed on. Capitol also airs NBC Sports Radio programming on 99.9 HD3 "The Ticket" in addition to ESPN programming on both The Buzz and The Fan. The Buzz also used to carry Fox Sports Radio; not sure if they still do, but they seem to have the other major sports networks covered...
