Another station bites the dust...this time in Lynchburg

According to my observations, WTTX/ Appomattox/ Lynchburg has been sold to Positive Alternative Radio for 1.8 million dollars.

I heard the former afternoon jock say last week something to the effect of:

"Well, we have wanted to tell you all how much we love you, and we will continue to say that throughout the day. Thank you all so much for your support."

They are broadcasting as "Joy FM" with southern gospel still. IN STEREO.

I am not sure if they are 24 hours, though. I'll check

I truly like the new WTTX, mostly because Wayne Greene did not know how to operate a station. They were still using portable CD players and carts there...they were using old carts that were so worn down they were almost inaudible.

I do hope the old X-mitter goes soon, too. It sounds like hell (pardon the pun)...being that it's the original late 60's one.

Wow, WTTX in stereo...

I'm in Charlotte County and WTTX puts quite a signal over here... I've never listened for more than a few seconds though. I'm just sad that they went to simulcasting WRXT--which has a very listenable signal in the area.

I also recall hearing that WTTX would never be sold or something to that effect.

Oh well, better than before.

Someone had best inform the FCC about the "sale". According to the FCC CDBS, the last application concerning WTTX-FM was 9/25/2003 and that was a Renewal, so it would seem that "CLL, Inc." is still the owner. Perhaps the station is being LMA'd by Positive Alternative Radio. Lord Knows!!!!

If they are running Southern Gospel as JOY FM, then it is a simulcast of WXRI in Winston Salem NC.

Unfortunately, before the end, they were on air tyring to raise money like no tomorrow, and promising the audience they would continue with no changes.

Obviously not the case.

I also heard that the few radio preachers that were on the air have been thrown off as well.
