Another Top 40 Causulty: WABB/Mobile

Yup, 107.3 Now is now a CHR/Pop rather than a Rhythmic CHR
Still, it's a real shame WABB with its long legacy has been sold to EMF. As if there aren't enough Religious stations already BELOW the 92.1 FM dial.

Sad to see them go. They seem to have been an FM top 40 since 1973. I'm currently listening to an aircheck of them from 1998 that includes lines that say "celebrating 25 years of hits". K-Love will get a blowtorch signal...seems like such a waste of airspace. Also wish those would stay below 92.1 or on lower power signals.

That really suck's sound's like a good station too! Ill have to check 975WABB on my phone before wabb hit's the dust! A lot of years being thrown away for K-love.
Crap K-love run's Toledo,Oh with it's 7 Signal's 94.9,96.9,103.3,104.1,1520,92.9 and 105.9!
This is sad wow :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Dying to see what the Top 40 Casualty rate will look like once this current hit music sound trend ends... If pop music goes primarily towards one particular sound in music like it did during the hip hop era, a lot of stations will claim to be that sound and / or genre rather than just keep the label "hit music".

104.1 Jack fm is flipping formats at 12am to fill For wabb FM

The NEW 104.1 WABD same logo and positioning statement. There was some speculation on the North Florida and Alabama board Cumulus may try and buy the intellectual property of WABB and re-brand as WABB. Some also suspect they may try and hire some of the jocks from 'ABB. We'll see. For now, it's the usual Cumulus recurrent heavy music rotations.

The bad thing about losing WABB is that they were a locally owned CHR, and played some songs that the bigger companies like Cumulus, Clear Channel, and CBS wouldn't play (this was discussed on another thread) - the "new" WABB will be just as cookie cutter as any other corporate-owned CHR...
