*Another* TV show as a movie?!?

Just heard this on the radio... Magnum P.I. ...apparently Universal is interested according to Variety. Magnum, Rick, and TJ will be in on the fun but no casting as of yet. A brief rundown of the plot was part of the report, but I was so surprised about the news, that I missed the plot part. If it's like most of the recent TV-show-as-movie excuses, I'll probably miss the movie part too.

No surprise...the major studios already own the original rights to the TV series, and it shouldn't be terribly difficult to obtain motion picture rights.

You're gonna see more of them...the studios are hoping to produce success a la "Charlie's Angels" or "Mission: Impossible".

The plot:

Tom Selleck and the boys reprise their original roles as they all gather for Magnum's wedding to Jessica Fletcher (Angela Lansbury) of "Murder, She Wrote" fame. Angela finally moved out of Maine because there was no one left to be murdered there. She retired to Hawaii and fell in love with our boy, Tom Magnum.

Magnum now drives a motorized wheelchair instead of a convertible. Jessica now spends her days looking for her teeth rather than clues to murders. Higgins died 5 years ago but no one noticed. Rick and TJ are special friends and fly the helicopter their own special way.

Making special guest appearances for the wedding:

-Actors Gerald McRaney and the other one, otherwise known as the private detective boys Simon and Simon, who made cameo appearances in previous seasons of Magnum PI. The boys finally reveal they aren't REALLY brothers. They are brother and sister.

-Actor Tom Bosley appears as 3 different characters: as the sherriff from Murder, She Wrote who pops into town for the wedding of his old friend Jessica; as Father Tom Dowling from "Father Dowling Mysteries", who officiates the wedding; and, as Howard Cunningham from Happy Days, but no one really knows how he managed to show up from 1975 Milwaukee. Probably through some sort of Mork from Ork mindmeld. Erin Moran and Scott Baio tag along with Tom to sing the wedding song.

-Actress Courtney Cox Arquette shows up in a confused state of mind when she hears Selleck is getting married and thinks "Friends" has come back for a reunion and wedding for Richard and Monica.

-Ted Danson, Steve Guttenburg, and the baby drop by as themselves. (That's a movie reference for those of you no longer paying attention).

-David Hasselhoff drops by because he's David Hasselhoff.

-And, Kevin Bacon drops by because he isnt currently Six Degree'd to any of these people. Or....is he!!!!!!
