Another twist for 107.3 HMN/Pensacola

It was announced this morning that The Bobby Bones show will be moving from CHR to Country stations for Clear Channel. That brings up the question, what happens at 107.3? Move Matt McCoy to mornings, pipe in Elvis Duran, or use this as an excuse to flip it?

How about bring back a locally produced morning show? Naa, we can't do that!

Well, they've got a 1.4 share (Mon-Sun 6A-Mid, 12+) to defend. Duran could knock down a 1 share. Hell, a thousand hertz tone could knock down a 1 share...

Okay, I'm not being fair. But I am truly shocked at where RGV is, now. Maybe they are, too, after soaring up into the 2-3 range before crashing to earth in the fall book. I mean, shit, CC knows how to do CHR.

Anybody have access to the full Mobile book? Is 107.3 doing any better in The City By The Bay?

Sorry but, Duran is horrible. I don't like that show. I wonder if there trying to kill HMN with a soft kill

Who says you have to change the morning show to fit the format. Sometimes you change the format to match the morning show.

Think the WOWW-FM and WOW 107 still mean anything to Pensacola? With changes in Country radio looming CC could hedge their portfolio and be prepared to play ball if new forms of Country radio stations don't initially catch on in this market.

Just sayin

I dunno. Lot of Country there already, though I guess nobody's doing Country Gold--80's/90's (Strait, Brooks & Dunn, Judds, Reba). Or Country Legends, a syndicated format skewing older. In that kind of format the WOWW calls could be handy (not critical, but handy), though right now they're on a little AM in suburban Memphis.

I guess I'm not convinced that 107.3 is in the wrong (general) format. It does give their sales crew an angle/demo they didn't have covered. If it just refuses to take off, though, I'd still be most tempted to pair the SOB with 710...

Well CC did quote me 1/4 the price for running spots on 107.3 vs 94.9/99.9.

There's nothing wrong with choosing to not compete with 97.5 for CHR listeners. It kinda seems like a waste to keep resources in the battle. Cumulus won when they bought the 97.5 signal. Period. I think competing with a CHR on the cursed 104.1 frequency might have made for a good ol fashion cage fight. Competing with 97.5? Tuff one.

The weaker signal of 107.3 might work well with a twang country format. Otherwise I'd love to see CC offer us up a third flavor of rock or get the Premier contracts in Pensacola and go ahead and offer us the top talk radio shows on a full power FM.

We don't need more country stations here. We have enough!

I'd like to see the simulcast of 106/104.1 end, 106.1 would make a great sports station.

(Yes, I still call it a simulcast)

You guys will love it so funny and yes Elivs Duran run alot of CHR stations. We have one here on 107.1 Hit Music Now (Tallahassee)

So is Elvis one of the "Duran-Duran" brothers?

What's this Elvis Duran guy got to get him syndicated all over the place?

Would someone like me be able to stand Elvis Duran when I'm used to listening to either live local morning shows (usually the Morning Movement on WKSM) or John Boy and Billy? I can't stand those Lex and Terry guys on TK... But I don't really get their show or understand what's going on whenever I get stuck hearing L&T on someone else's radio. I didn't mind Rick and Bubba, they just seemed like a neutered version of John Boy & Billy. I'm not familiar with any other morning shows still syndicated in this area.

Oh boy! Based out of New York City and most of his affiliates seem to be in the New York - New England area.

Come on, at least they could try to find some show out of ATL, New Orleans, Tampa or some other regional hub.

On the other hand, if your looking to target Yankees in Dixie, Pensacola would be a good place to start.

Elvis Duran will not make one bit of difference. With a couple exceptions aside, relatability is major thing for the audience here. Might get that 1.6 up to a 1.8, but that's about it.

Actually he's IN ATL, has 7 affiliates in Florida and Virginia and Ohio and Texas and Iowa, etc. He does VERY well in most . Seinfeld was based in NY. He did ok. It's a very enjoyable, targets their demo, gets the big stars in studio morning show.

Tibbs & Poledo, y'all are the wrong demo to understand 107.3, Elvis Duran, or the CHR format. When we were kids, CHR was a true mass-appeal format, but today it's a chick thang. Not to mention an 18-24 thang--as it always was. So when we hit 25 were were Too Old!!! Uh, how many years ago was that, now...
