Another update to the telco situation

Apparently we go through a different switching station than what I had thought. The line is actually 24,000 feet...a real analog dry copper pair 24,000 feet long. With all the power upgrades in the area, it must be picking up a hum from the power lines. The circuit specialist mentioned that another station down the road from us had a similar problem because the power company put a bank of capacitors too close to the telco line.

Telco is upgrading us to a digital loop and putting DACs on both ends for us. Can't wait to see what it sounds like after that.<P ID="signature">______________

YUCK hopefully that works out.. I have never heard of a situation where a radio station runs a dry loop type service over a digital loop (usually they do some form of codec if they go digital)

Keep us all updated.
