ANOTHER WCIN EXTENSION; WCVG IS DARK?

Per a filing on 12/9/09:

THE PARTIES TO THE SUBJECT TRANSACTION HEREBY REQUEST AN ADDITIONAL 90 DAYS, UNTIL MARCH 13, 2010, TO CONSUMMATE THE ASSIGNMENT OF WCIN(AM), CINCINNATI, OH (FIN 32953) FROM AMERICAN BROADCASTING, LLC TO ALCHEMY II BROADCASTING, LLC. ADDITIONAL TIME IS NECESSARY AS THE BUYER HAS NOT YET OBTAINED FINANCING AND THE PARTIES ARE EXPLORING ALTERNATIVE WAYS OF FINANCING THE TRANSACTION.

WCVG hasn't been broadcasting for the last few days. Looks like the Gospel experiment has run out of money this time.

Have not noticed WCVG being off the air. Could be transmitter issues.

Sounds like it here. I'll look into it.

What is Alchemy going to be able to do with three more months that they haven't been able to do in the first three years?

Alchemy, aka WJDO, has been on the air for four years now with their oldies format.

Hope it's done soon. Alchemy needs a miracle right now...now I know why the WCIN calls are still being used at the top of the hour.

CVG is dark and will remain so until a buyer-tenant is found. The licensee pulled it down on Thursday or so.
Stay tuned.

WCIN/WDJO? I am sure that they will get it done. I do not know what the seller is thinking here. There isn't a line of suitors, here.
The seller, which looks like a bank, best i can tell, should just get the deal done. If you're the tenant, its hard to work your plan if things are up in the air.
I was in town on Sunday and 1480 sounded great.

Radio is not a great business proposition these days.

Especially lower-power, upper spectrum AMs that appeal to older or narrow audiences.

I submit WCIN/WDJO as Exhibit A and WCVG as Exhibit B.

Long live CLU132!
Or Big CLU Country with the billboards that showed the private eye with the magnifying glass looking for the "CLU".

I just found all of my old WCLU pictures. I have shots of the studios and the cowboy in the lobby. He's gone now. For those of you who know the layout of that building, La Ley moved the studio into Irv's office and put in a showcase window. This will be interesting to watch. I love that little place since it's where I started at age 16. I'd hate to see it go dark permanently, but it's a different world now.

Have there been any stations that have went dark in the Cincinnati area and never returned? I can't remember any right off hand.

I don't remember any either. Their have been stations like the old WHKK/WSAI that was dark for several months before it returned as WIZF in 1990.

Davidson is still the owner, but under some subsidiary that took over when Peter Davidson took himself out of the company. A sale to the Gospel programmers who have been doing the LMA was approved, but never consummated. So, Davidson is still the owner of record.

Their web stream is working, but no air signal. They were doing online programming after they left WCVG the first time in 2005.
