First, I noticed that the audio on 100.7 becomes out of phase when listened to in Mono on some songs (can't hear the person singing, and the insturmental parts become very loud). On the other end, in stereo, those same songs sound really wide (sounds like my speakers are on opposite sides of the room, when they are in front of me). Sounds like the the audio processing is still set for a talk radio station.

Second, looks like this station takes from KWJJ-FM (99.5 The Wolf), Entercom's country station in Portland (formerly owned by Fisher), http://www.thewolfonline.com/

Third, I wonder if IKnowItAll saw the Buzz's demise coming.....

I for one foresaw the slow and inevitable death of KQBZ ever since the day they cancelled Tom Martino from the weekend lineup! ;)

The crack Entercom Seattle engineering team seems to have fixed the one CD player that was wired out of phase.

Well, duh. That was in the press release posted at R&R.

OK, just a thought. Didn't we have a post just a couple of days ago from IKnowItAll advising that SHE was moving out of the Seattle market? Kind of a farewell from the Mightiest Predictor. And in that same post she referred to herself for the first time (that I could recall) as a "she." So... here comes my crazy thought... IKnowItAll = Robin Erickson??? IKnowItAll is off to Montana for good??

Well, it's a thought.

Speaking of weekends, that's a loss they'll see immediately. I had once had a client that wanted his brokered show on several younger skewing stations. I typically keep business in my neck of the woods here in the Southwest, but I inquired with KQBZ about airing the show. They quoted Sunday 5-6am for $1,000. I know they'll save the salaries from the decent amount of local shows they had on the weekend, but the few hours of paid programs will likely not remain.

Actually, I remember the same things happening when I was at Bates when the students were operating 91.7, when they had to manually switch wires to the audio board at the end of the day for automation. Sometimes, the audio was out of phase at times all night or the weekend, or would have a weak left or right channel.

Just now finished reading the press release. I'm trying to get caught up here since i've been offline for a few days.

Actually, looks like HE turned out to be a SHE, per JustaLissner's reply.

Read my post from last week. IKNOWITALL knew this better than any
prediction I have ever made, my demise was coming. Now you know the
rest of the iknowitall story. I will miss working radio in Seattle.

PEACE OUT

For some time now I've had a little feeling in my gut that maybe IKnowItAll was Maynard-oh. Didn't suspect until very recently the beautiful and fabulous Madame Fabulina.

Thanks, Robin. My very best to you.

(Now, back to my "Robin & Maynard Remembered" cassette tapes from the last days of KXRS...)

KQBZ Sound Processing

KQBZ had undisputedly the WORST sound processing of any Seattle FM station. It was downright criminal that ANY FM station should deliberately sound WORSE than most AM stations.

It was like suddenly, as an afterthought (like almost everything else was in this painfully ill-planned switchover), they were like, "Oh yeah...we gotta tweak this" when the first song, "How Do You Like Me Now" Toby Keith was played. Also I noticed this too in Mount Vernon and it was caught on that aircheck of The Wolf's opening announcement (wherever it was recorded), the signal suddenly got 50% better. As if it SOMEHOW couldn't be that good when The Buzz was on the air.

You know, if they had just cleaned the sound and signal up like they did for The Wolf, KQBZ probably would have stood a better chance for higher ratings.....
