Nope. The old 1020 studios were sold at tax auction a couple of years ago. According to Google Maps, the towers have been knocked down.
He lives in a nice little house that his mama owns just outside of town. The station and studios were owned by "Georgia Triangle Broadcasting", so that's why mama and Lil' Steven got to keep the house (in mama's name)
I should point out his "new" venture is located at the exact place that the Mermaid Cafe was. Sounds like the name and business license has changed (probably an attempt to shirk Starbucks out of their lawsuit money), but the same great food and same wacky Woody is right there!
And yes, it was one of the first things that crossed my mind when I heard he had a restaurant. That being said, I think in his mind insurance fraud is a crime. Scamming mom & pop radio station owners, disabled veterans, and a large multinational coffee company is fair game in his book. Plus, enough people keep tabs on this cat that he will 'get got' if he tries anything that crazy. I've seen the documentaries...Georgia sounds like one of the last states where I'd want to do a stretch of hard time in the big house!
