Antenna Question

I'm about to install the Delphi XM Signal Repeater in my home. I'll install the antenna on the exterior of the house and run the antenna down into my attic where I'll install the transmitter. Any suggestions as to the best antenna to install? Over the years I've not had very good luck with Terk products, however, they seem to have most of the XM antenna market. What antenna would be best to install outdoors? Should I just get the standard Terk mag mount vehicle antenna or the XM11 'stick' antenna? Or some other?

My old school Terk window mount stick antenna is still alive and kicking....except for during daylight when my XM unit seemingly displays "NO SIGNAL".
______________

I'd stick with the Delphi antenna that should be part of the package myself... I've had no complaints with them, and I don't see how it wouldn't hold up to the elements.
______________

I'd go with the Delphi antenna, as to save money. I still have my original 'shark-fin' antenna for my Sony Plug'N'Play to use downstairs, but bought the 'mouse' antenna for my car. Seems less cumbersome.

I bought another micro antenna through Crutchfield for $30-35 by American International, as well as a 'hand-made' battery pack to make the PNP portable. That's how I listened to some of 'Live 8' with a portable Panasonic radio in tow. I'm quite impressed with how well it can bring in the signal, despite its small size.

VERY WIERD Antenna Issue

Antenna placed on window sill in south facing window, almost no signal. No obstructions whatsoever. As soon as I open the window, with antenna placed on window sill full signal. Checked several times, open, close, open, etc. With the standard aluminun framed residential window closed, no signal. Open a few inches and now I have full signal. Ever hear of such a thing? I would not expect leaded glass in my home...

Any clue?

It could be lead windows, heavy concentrations of lead in the (wall) paint, bad angle (from where I sit (Midwest), the signal sometimes goes in and out), or other numerous reasons. I don't think I have lead in the windows either, as the signal is usually strong.

That, or drunken squirrels causing havoc again. ;)
