Antenna Rotator question/problem

I have brought an antenna rotator over Christmas and have a problem. Ok heres's the problem. I can't get the control unit that sits on top of my tv to turn on leaving my antenna stuck in the east position leaving me with the Tyler TV stations coming in.

I have unplugged the unit and pluged it back in nothing tried disconnecting the wires from the control unit to the rotator unit and reconnected them, Again nothing. I even went as far as reseting the control box, Nothing. I'm totaly stummped and can not for the life of me figure this one out. If anyone knows what could be going on please either reply or email me at bhcjazzer02_at_verizon_dot_net and please put rotator unit on the subject line. I appriciate anyone who can help me with this. Thanks in advance

We could use a few details, like, the manufacturer and model number of the rotor.

Does it light up at all when the dial is turned? Usually these have a motor with two windings, and a phase-shift capacitor to run
one way or the other. Pulses sent back to the control head move the indicator until when lined up with the selector, when power is
cut off, and the brake (if equipped) is applied with removal of power.

No lighting up when the dial is turned would seem to indicate a broken circuit for the common or neutral back to the motor.
A broken wire for one direction or the other (separate wires here) would run one way and get stuck trying to go the other.
Sounds like you need to look at connections up at the rotor.

I had that problem with my old Radio Snack rotator. First, I found I had the wire backwards. Then I found a little bit of one of the wires shorting out against another. Once the antenna got caught in some tree limbs. And one time the inside unit got stuck between two of the contacts and nearly caught fire.

Now I live in a valley, within sight of the tall towers at Cedar Hill, so I don't use it any more.

The photos I've seen look very much like the Channel Master 9521A, which is now made in China. One distributor of the CM admits their QC is poor, and says (on their website) that they test each one before shipment.....I bought one from a different distributor, and had to ship it back, as the bearings failed the first time it turned.
