Looks like they promised too much too soon. I hope the now off-the-air shows show up soon, otherwise they might as well conjure up the ghost of Billy Mays and hire Don Lapre as their announcer

They have plans to eventually add them. Can't say as I will miss any of the oldie
goldies...........I'd just as soon watch Hazel and Dennis instead.

KTLA's sneak peek was supposed to have included Circus Boy and Rin Tin Tin per the PSIP program guide but were jettisoned for The Flying Nun and another show. I did watch Burns & Allen though. I bet there are still some broadcast royalties they still need to hash out on the older library Sony acquired. As soon as that pissing match is over we can say good night, Gracie ("Good night, Gracie").

...it should be noted that Gracie Allen herself never said "Good night, Gracie" on any of her programs. That gag was Dan Rowan & Dick Martin's on Laugh-In ("Good night, Dick.")...

If memory serves it was George who ended the show with "Say good night Gracie" and she would reply simply "good night" (sometimes adding "everybody").

This is correct, she didn't say it on radio either. George Burns, in one of his books claims that the incredibly enough, no one ever thought to have Gracie say "Goodnight Gracie." But he makes other claims in other books he authored so who knows. (George often tells conflicting stories, Milton Berle said he does this, because he can't tell a story without making a joke out of it)

The good thing about Burns and Allen is you can go to the archive.org and download their radio shows for free. And their radio shows are a hundred times funnier than the TV show

Weren't all of these shows originally produced by Screen Gems/
Columbia Pictures (the Stooges)? And doesn't Sony Pictures
Television hold the rights to them?

I hope they can get their differences squared away; I'm a bigger
fan of Burns and Allen than I am of "I Love Lucy," which, over the
years, it more and more resembled. Maybe I just like Gracie's style
of comedy better than Lucy's. And no, Gracie never said "Goodnight,
Gracie," but on rare occasions she might slip in a message about supporting
charitable causes with that "good night"--but not too often (maybe
something like giving blood).

By the way, what was "Showcase '39"?

Long before "Laugh-in," the above gag came up on an episode of "Peabody's Improbable History", part of "Rocky & His Friends"/"Bullwinkle Show."

Something like---

Peabody: I am Mr. Peabody, and this is my boy Sherman. Say hello, Sherman.
Sherman: Hello, Sherman! Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Peabody: We will dispense of the levity, m'boy.

I'm quite certain the gag that made Rowan & Martin famous was around even before Peabody....! Gracie woulda been perfect for the gag though.

Which reminds me of one of the end-of-show tags on Highway Patrol (aired on This TV, BTW)
where Chief Dan Mathews would growl: "This is Broderick Crawford reminding you to leave
your blood at the Red Cross, not on the highway. See you next week."

10-4! :D

And of course, such tags also remind me of Bob Barker's "Have your pets spayed or neutered" (which Drew Carey has continued on TPIR).

I wonder if Drew is required to say this on air? Maybe one of the requirements before being hired?

I always thought that Broderick Crawford tag at the end was hilarious and a bit borderline grotesque. Funny!

I'd like to see a reunion of Martin Milner and George Maharis of Route 66 fame! I wonder if those two ever talk to each other at all? The were quite good together in that show! I can see it now Route 66 2010 coming up next! LOL....Perhaps Antenna TV could run that show on their schedule? And how about The Guns of Will Sonnett with Walter Brennan? Great underrated show!

Two 80-year olds traveling the highways of America in a vintage Corvette that neither can get out of without assistance? ;D

...The Guns of Will Sonnett and Branded are two of my own favourites, and I managed to get a hold of almost the entire runs of these two on VHS when WFAA/8 Dallas ran them late Saturdays/early Sundays nine years ago. I also got the first season DVD package of Branded and was dismayed to find they'd used the beat-up 16mm syndication prints for the DVD instead of the 35mm network masters, indicating to me that the 35mm prints and/or negatives either don't exist or are in even worse shape. They were both part of King World's syndicated offerings when they got gobbled up by CBS/Paramount, so I have to suspect that if anybody's gonna run 'em, it'll be MeTV...

I also read George Burns' book in which he says nobody ever thought to have Gracie repeat, "Good night, Jethro." The bit is usually attributed to Laugh-In, as noted. However, I did recently see a 1965 episode of the Beverly Hillbillies (at least three years before Laugh In) and written by Paul Henning, the head writer of the Burns and Allen radio and TV shows. In it, Jed says, "Say goodnight, Jethro." And Jethro repeats, "Goodnight, Jethro."
