ANTENNA TV GOING YOUNGER......ADDS BENSON & BARNEY MILLER THIS FALL

Now that I'm going to be able to get Antenna TV on Charter cable starting next month, Barney Miller was one of the shows I was hoping they would eventually have, and Benson is OK with me as well. I jsut hope they'll keep WKRP.

"Barney Miller," is great. "Benson" is awful. Me-Too (sister station to Me-TV in Chicago) aired them both.

Fish is awesome and it's really interesting how everyone was predicting the end of New York City, which was teetering on bankruptcy in the 70s.

I wonder who owns Mr Belvedere? I have the first few seasons on my computer. It's a fun, pretty brainless way to kill a half an hour.

Haven't seen Mr Belvedere in years. Bob Uecker was tremendous in the sitcom format. Why he never got another
shot at it is a mystery to me. That episode where he gets in trouble for his TV editorial on the National Anthem
and the station tries to make him quit is just hilarious!

Have not seen Benson in quite a long time either. Last time was when WTAE-TV ran it late afternoons in the
mid 1980's I think. I don't recall it being that bad.

Yes. Darn those young punks at Antenna TV for adding a 37- and 33-year-old sitcom! Too "young" for my blood.

Now where did I put the prune juice? ;)

Mr. Belvedere airs every day on Family Net. Verizon Fios carries the network, not sure about other cable companies.

I'm happy to see Benson on the new schedule, although the midnight timeslot is not very appealing.

Barney Miller airs on KDOC Los Angeles' main channel which also is home of the METV sub. KTLA might have to balk at showing Barney Miller and replace it with I Dream Of Jeannie which seems to be their goto show when they have to preempt some other show. Benson I could give two rips about. Didn't like it the first time around. Benson on Soap was stellar but on his own spin-off he was dull and uninspired.

I'm surprised Barney Miller isn't on Antenna or Retro by now. Benson is an acquired taste. Now, if they can restrain themselves from adding "Perfect Strangers," they'll be fine.

As I said, "Barney Miller" was on local Me-TV in Chicago. Maybe the rights are hard to get nationwide. Fish was so awesome.

Clerk) Can I help you

Fish) What can be done, has been done...

Such a "Fish" thing to say...

I'm surprised Antenna TV hadn't added Barney Miller earlier. It's in the Sony library. I used to stream a few episodes on my blu-ray.

The one thing I remember about Benson that kinda bugged me was how over-the-top that
Clayton Endicott character was played (which was surprising because Rene Auberjonois is
a rather accomplished actor).

The thing that bugged me on Mr. Belevedere was the whiny teenage daughter who was always
moaning about how she couldn't have sex. After a few episodes you just wanted to look at your
set and scream "Just go and DO IT already!!"

Well, Clayton was about as over-the-top as Gretchen Kraus - as played by the equally accomplished Broadway veteran Inga Swenson - who came off as a borderline Nazi. (Clayton's predecessor was played by another stage vet - Lewis J. Stadlen, who played Groucho on Broadway, if I recall)

New to Antenna TV. Just got it on the WCOV subchannel recently. 20.2 to be exact. This channel is already appealing to me. Loving it very much. Hope WAKA will soon add ME-TV to their mix. Look forward to watching it.

Do they have a live stream anywhere on the internet? The line-up is really good for a sub-channel, but they cant seem to pick up any new markets. ???

I personally thought Odo was an even more over-the-top character for his kind... ::)

The problem with Antenna's lineup is that it doesn't change frequently enough. Shows like Three's Company and Too Close for Comfort, which I do like, have been airing since the network's inception a year and a half ago. So they have already cycled through all the episodes of these shows about 6 or 7 times already.
