ANTENNA TV NETWORK........

figured it was time they got a new thread......

They have a brand new website www.antennatv.tv (similar to the old one) and it now
lists 37 affiliates. I think Chattanooga is the latest.

Why is it taking so long to sign up new stations? You think it's that hard to sell
something that's not there yet or have they only got 2 people actually marketing it?

I saw that several of Tribune's stations put a "placeholder" on one of their subchannels, before Antenna TV (whom they own) comes on the air. KZJO here in Seattle has been broadcasting their tower cam 24-7 on 22.3, and KTXL in Sacramento has been running a retro test pattern on the subchannel the new network will be placed on. I'm curious if any other Tribune stations are "stunting" one of their subchannels before flipping it over to the new network?

WTIC-DT 61-2 of Hartford is simply showing the "ANTENNA TV- COMING SOON" test pattern picture with no music.

KTLA 5.3 isn't stunting but rather just mirroring THIS until launch.
Kind of boring out here in DMA #2.

But I am looking forward to the flip.

There was an ad in the co-owned Hartford Courant the other day.

It shows a picture of The Bundy Family.

And it says Married With Children Coming Soon to Antenna TV WTIC Channel 61-2. Coming soon to COX and Comcast.

And it had Antenna TV's website listed.

which mean for us itv.tv folks we can get a look at antenna tv im already watching the me channels in chi town and i love it i hope antenna lives up to the hype!!

KTLA swapped the PSIP data for 5.2 and 5.3 today. Antenna-TV is identified on 5.2 and THIS-TV on 5.3. The channel bug on THIS still says KTLA 5.2 but the program data is on 5.3. 5.2's program data is empty and still just mirroring THIS programming.

I guess it makes sense to move THIS so that televisions that all ready have 5.2 mapped will notice Tribune's own subchannel on their own stations before Weigel's THIS. Some older sets may not map subs without a full rescan which could leave the less techy people to think THIS has gone away and replaced with Antenna.

Oddly enough, WPIX still doesn't have a subchannel up, nor is there any mention of Antenna TV anywhere on their website. I have not seen any promos for it during PIX programming either. Launch date is just over 2 weeks away. I wonder if they'll even carry Antenna TV at launch.

They now have to fight for subchannel affiliations with MeTV, which seems to have a better programming lineup than Antenna TV (not that ATV's is bad, but the CBS/legacy Paramount/Viacom library has more "iconic" shows). These two starting up within a month of each other makes it tougher for station programmers to decide what to carry.

Then there's the issue of syndicated exclusivity. For example, a local station may still air "Married...With Children" in a market, which may pose a problem.

I wonder if RTV is making incentives to their current affiliates not to defect and join either Antenna TV or MeTV? I notice that neither Antenna TV or MeTV airs infomercials overnight like RTV does, I suspect that affiliated stations share revenues from RTV's infomercials.

Actually, Antenna TV has first dibs on the big markets as they have already signed Tribune stations (WGN, WPIX, KTLA etc). MeTV might have a tougher time in those. I suspect in non-Tribune markets, MeTV will air alongside sister network This TV (Tribune has This TV on all of their stations, so we won't see MeTV there). As far as I know, Married...With Children will continue to air everywhere...it's like how Ion has My Name is Earl and locals have it, Ion and MNTV have Without a Trace, etc. MeTV has Lucy as do locals, etc.

I think we'll see MeTV AND Antenna TV available nationwide eventually, probably coverage better than RTV ever got. Look how far This TV got in 1-2 years in terms of availability. I still like MeTV's selection of shows much, much more- most are blockbusters. Lucy, M*A*S*H, Dick Van Dyke, Honeymooners, etc.

I wish RTV would do something. They are so shoddy and exhausted. The other digital networks seem so much more professional and enjoyable.

Very true. They have been airing pretty much the same shows since their inception. And on top of that their technical problems make the channel very annoying to watch anyway. In the NYC market, there is constant pixelation and freezing during the RTV shows from 8pm - 11pm every night (Magnum, Simon & Simon, Rockford Files). I get 100% signal on that station so that's definitely not the issue.

In Louisville, duopoly stations subchannels WDRB-DT 41.2 and WMYO-DT 58.2 were lit up in early December and are now on either bars (WDRB) or ID slide (WMYO). I'm assuming Antenna TV will be on full-power WDRB. I wonder what's gonna be on the WMYO subchannel?

Our RTV affiliate, WBNA-DT 21.4 is plagued by a low ERP, a short antenna resulting in horrendous terrain shielding and being on high band VHF (RF Channel Eight). They can't raise their antenna because it is within the approach zone of the dual main runways at Louisville's extremely busy main airport...UPS' main world air hub (symbol SDF). Only about 40% of the metro can see RTV reliably as a result, and WBNA doesn't have the capital to move their tower to the NW antenna farm at Floyds Knobs, IN or elsewhere to actually generate the licensed coverage.

It looks like a channel that Canada could use, since there's no more TV Land Canada.

We have TVtropolis.

TV TROPOLIS?? HOME OF WIPEOUT CANADA? PLEASE!
Sorry for the yell, but something's just not "="

Local TV's WJW/8.2 Cleveland has lit up with an SD simulcast of 8.1, on and off, over the past few days.

IIRC, all the Local TV stations are getting Antenna TV...Local TV is basically Tribune Jr., operated by that company in a services agreement established shortly after Randy Michaels left Local TV for Tribune.

Time Warner Cable has already published legal notices that'll put Antenna TV on systems in WJW's service area, presumably in the digital 300s tier with the other subchannels.

No word on Me-TV yet here. Raycom's WUAB/43.2 carries This.

RTV is on area LPTVers, including WAOH-LP 29 Akron/W35AX Cleveland, and down south on WIVM/52 Canton and its numerous simulcasters. All of them, except for one recent digital conversion (WIVM's Loudonville station) are analog. All hold some sort of digital CP, including 29/35.

Why do you assume that?

Oops, meant "digital CP or app", 29/35's apps to flash cut aren't approved yet.
