ANTENNA TV NETWORK........

we have a local station that aired Hazel, Dennis the Menace, Gidget, the monkees and too close for comfort back in the early 80's. It was a new station and they didn't have a lot of money so I'm guessing they were trying to find something cheap. But most of those shows on antenna TV haven't been seen over the air on a regular basis in years.

no split screens on closing credits and no onair bug/logo! and possibly unedited shows , they will not edit themselves!

Eff Me-TV... Anetnna TV is way better

No bugs? I'm all for that, although you shouldn't rule out the possibility altogether. After all....

1. RTN didn't have a bug 'til it became RTV, although that logo is absent on Daytime and EI programming.

2. This TV airs a transparent bug on the lower right hand corner of the screen with the exception of the primetime movie on Monday thru Friday.

3. My Network TV never had a network logo. However, during the second series of telenovelas, it did have a show logo on the lower left corner of the TV screen!

MeTV doesn't do split screens, and as far as I know, doesn't edit shows. They do have a transparent bug. And really good in-between stuff, like imaging, promos and old commercials.

Now, Antenna hasn't hit the air yet, so can't really judge until then.

Personally, I think there's plenty of room for both Antenna and MeTV. Now RTV, on the other hand, could run into trouble. Smaller catalog, lots of repeats, amateurish presentation, and fractured schedules for each market. Not to mention that they don't have the strong backing like the two new networks. They have had a history of financial problems. They do have a good affiliate base, but if they lose that, they're screwed.

Burns and Allen - Last time I saw that show was on WTXX Channel 20 in Hartford (Waterbury). They had an hour long block called The Screen Gems Network. B&A was on there once in a blue moon. I also remember it used to be on Connecticut Public Television.

Hazel and The Flying Nun - Last time I saw those 2 were on a network called WOR an EMI Service. It replaced programming on the real WWOR.

The Monkees - Last time I saw that show was on WTXX Channel 20 in Hartford (Waterbury). They had an hour long block called The Screen Gems Network. The Monkees was on there once in a while.

Too Close for Comfort - Channel 59 in New Haven used to show this show on Saturday Mornings. Unfortunately they listed the entire 6AM-Noon Time Slot as Infomercials so you'd never know it was on unless you were channel surfing and came across it. They treated MASH the same way.

I emailed FOX 61 in Hartford and asked them if they knew when Antenna TV would be added to COMCAST and COX and they haven't gotten back to me. Antenna TV will be airing on FOX 61s subchannel.

It's funny how KTLA's first sneak peek at Antenna TV today on their main signal (they will be doing this for the next 2 weekends) simply made KTLA look like it once did in the halcyon days of the 70's and the 80's. Pretty much the entire library Antenna has were once solid staples of the KTLA of old. Hell, when they air Gidget tomorrow morning on Sunday it'll be at the exact same time KTLA used to show it those many moons ago.

Based on the initial peek we got, and this is only the 1st of many more to come, Antenna is poised to become an immediate homerun of programming straight out of the box. This is exactly what digital multicasting was created for and hopefully other stations groups look at the success of Weigel and Tribune with their subs and make an effort to put the 'entertainment' back in entertainment media.

"The Screen Gems Network" was Sony's late-1990s effort to revitalise the Screen Gems name with a changing variety of programs from Sony's library, both those made from Screen Gems, the later Columbia Pictures Television, and other companies that Sony got the rights to, all in a nationally-syndicated two-hour block. This was around the same time Sony brought back the Screen Gems name and the "S" logo for its second-tier movie studio.

(Sorry. Can't resist.)

At one time both of these were on CBN Cable (today's ABC Family) on weekdays. "Here Come The Brides" was another show that was also on CBN.

Trip...I think Antenna TV will be on WDRB-DT2 because it's a full-power 500 kw signal, as opposed to sister WMYO-DT's smaller footprint at 150 kw.

Are you sure about Screen Gems Network? I never saw it there.

I have, however, seen it on at least one PBS station. Very good show.

It was actually one of their regular shows. After they spent the fall and winter airing mostly "Bewitched" paired with "I Dream of Jeannie", they switched to pairing "The Monkees" with "The Partridge Family". I only watched "The Monkees" but I had a greater appreciation for it than I did when I was a child.

They were pioneers in the area of music videos. It was much more than a show about silly rock and roll stars.

Er, not sure where your numbers are coming from, but both signals are at 1000 kW. And signal strength has nothing to do with what programming a station airs.

I could remember KTLA's weekend afternoon lineup in the mid-80s and early-90s all too well: Three Stooges at 12, The Munsters at 1, Gidget at 2, Tom Hatten's Family Film Festival at 3 (they would re-run the Saturday 3pm movie at Sundays at 10am), and then other offerings from 5 to 6 (CHiPs, Charles in Charge, other shows), and then movies from 6-10.
