Antenna with most lightning strikes in NJ

It would have to be the old WDOX Now Q tower, the proximity to the Delaware Bay, Atlantic Ocean and Cape May point make it ripe for many summer thunderstorm hits. When you look at the radar you always see heavy T'Storms and lightning strikes in the area of the Xmtr, are there any extra precautions at this particular tower for the lightning strikes, and are they off the air alot in the summer/spring because of this??

It's never been off due to a storm, other than power
outages. It's only 250 feet high, not sure it takes
any hits really. I saw the WKOE tower get hit by
three strikes at the same time. The transmitter
stayed on, but the phone line equalizers got wiped out.
I bypassed them and got it back on, although it
sounded pretty muddy. I think the remote control
system got wiped too. Lightning hasn't caused much
damage around here - just hassle with power lines and
phone lines. The antennas and transmitters hold up
pretty well. It's the surge effect that kills the
solid state stuff.
