Anthony Cumia coming to WABC

Hours need to be filled. Hosts want more airtime. And somewhere between those points, they intersect. Plain and simple.
Ken Matthews has picked up the 5-6 PM hour from the Sunday Roger Stone politics-and-cooking show on WABC. A few years ago he was a fill-in host on Rush Limbaugh’s program, and had his own short-lived syndicated radio show based out of WHP Harrisburg. As reported by Wikipedia, that show was terminated when some inappropriate language went out over the network feed. Matthews thought his mic was only going to his engineer. Oops. His hour on WABC has gone unnoticed by even Wikipedia so far.

Despite having been very aware of the days of O&A and Cumia's "Compound" adventures, somehow I completely missed that Cumia spoke in November of 2024 at a literal white nationalist conference, that of Jared Taylor's "American Renaissance."

While I found his racial fixation loathsome, when he was on O&A there was a degree of detachment as to how much he "meant" it vs playing a cringeworthy character, and when Patrice O'Neal was on the show, Bill Burr and others, he had pushback. Somehow it was completely off my radar that Cumia was actually in IDGAF mode to the point where he'd attend white nationalist conferences.

Won't link to the video here. And I'm not some "keyboard warrior" cancel culture type. Just blows my mind that somehow this wasn't more widely known given the profile Cumia had. And he's not downplaying it, there's even a tweet where he admits attending, and thinks Jared Taylor is "great" and how "refreshing it is to be among like minded people."

Some of the accusations of this stuff thrown at radio hosts involve several degrees of separation or semi-plausible deniability. Appears Cumia's all in with it. If I were Cats, I wouldn't have been comfortable overlooking that. It just seems unwise, even from a business standpoint. I knew the guy was "racial" - but until yesterday, I had no idea this had happened. So I guess literal white nationalism doesn't keep you from getting a six figure gig anymore.

I am not an o&A fan, have never listened to them before, however I have made some observations , prior to the show last Sunday April 13th, there were lots of calls from Montana, Kansas, Tennessee, Florida all over the country I believe about 22 stations they seemed to be endeared by Anthonys unique style of delivery.

However during the show with Jim Norton I noticed all the calls were New York based and the content was a bit more edgy than normal which probably turned off many of those potential listeners in the Midwest.

I listened to most of the program from last week. It was definitely a lot edgier than usual and more than i am comfortable with, to be honest. Definitely some cringy moments, but I did laughed out loud a lot too.

The two still have very good chemistry and it seemed like a lot of genuine laughter between them.

I have enjoyed the Anthony Cumia Show so far, but i do think Anthony is a lot better all around when he is not flying solo. Unless you are Rush Limbaugh, it's pretty hard to do hour after hour of monologues.

They also seem to have added Ken Matthews on Sundays from 5-6 pm. I believe he was formerly on a station in New Jersey.
