Anti-Bob website

Re: Bob website

Yep. When you come to my drive-up window and I hear that hodge podge Jack station playing on your car radio, I'll know it's OldiesCat/tibbs. Along with your sandwich I'll hand you a recommended Classic Hits playlist based on Oldies Cat's suggested mix on the Oldies board.

slammin' Jack

That must be the "hodge-podge" that's kicking ass & taking names all over America.

Slam it if you like- it makes you come off as a complete idiot, since REAL RADIO LISTENERS love the Variety Hits approach.

Well, SW, isn't OC's playlist really also MY playlist???
How did Oldiescat steal that from me? "Copy"cat, huh?

But it isn't. That's why I question how much you know about radio.

A handful do. That's it.

slammin' Jack

You are WRONG.

Please list the V.H./Jack stations that are failing, right here. If you're going to state fact, back it up. If you don't, you'll be exposed as a buffoon.

Re: slammin' Jack

OC, you don't understand radio, at least radio programming. Do you work for Arbitron? That seems to be the only thing you use to judge radio.

Jack

Yeah, right- I don't understand radio. Thirty-plus years of success in radio and I don't understand it. I don't really think you're THAT stupid.

Arbitron ratings success is what drives revenue- it's a really simple concept.
It is the measuring stick used in radio and has been for decades: stations that have the most listeners generally are the most profitable. Duh.

So, I guess what you're saying here is that indeed you have no evidence to back up your claim that V.H. stations are mostly failing around the country? That's what you've said and you've followed with no proof to back it up. Are you now back-tracking?

Re: Jack

A market I really admire is Springfield, Illinois. A couple of years ago all the radio stations in Springfield dropped their subscription to Arbitron. Good radio, driven by stiff competition, will bring a station success. Arbitron numbers are empty winds.

Re: Jack

OK, that's nice. Not saying it doesn't happen. But Springfield isn't Indy, Chicago, Atlanta, L.A. or Seattle, where ratings really DO drive revenue and where the measure of success is ratings and revenue based.

Of course, you still have not answered my question: you claim the Jack/V.H. format is failing everywhere. What is your proof? Please answer.
