Any Burn Notice Fans?

Yo I know Burn Notice is on thier 5 season on USA Network so far I never get tired of Burn Notice it's one kick a$$ show in the summer....

I like it too. Great show. Never watch it in the beginning but thanks to Mynetwork TV I can watch the early seasons.

Wifey and I recently discovered Burn Notice and have been watching old episodes and catching up.

It has very high production standards for a cable show. Impressive!

For a "cable show." Original cable programming has been kicking broadcast a$$ and winning awards for years.

I would agree if by "cable" you meant HBO and its sisters.

Wifey described Burn Notice as a cross between Mcguyver and James Bond. Pretty good description I think.

But there's a difference between "premium" cable and "basic" cable, of course. The premium channels (HBO, Showtime) took the lead in original programming for years, but lately - basic cable has been stealing their thunder. AMC, FX and even TNT have done some critically acclaimed shows - Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, and The Shield to name just a few.

What is talked about less are the less critically acclaimed but still well written and well acted series on USA. Yes, Burn Notice is one. But others worth checking out include In Plain Sight, and White Collar.

Most of the better dramas and action shows can be found on cable now, IMO.

I agree that Burn Notice and the other USA shows go somewhat unnoticed by critics- but they are highly rated- so the public hasn't missed them.

For a few years, Burn Notice was the #1 scripted show on cable. I think it has since surrendered that crown. SNL did a bit a few years back about no one knowing what Burn Notice is/was- and it was a funny premise, except that many people do actually know what Burn Notice is and a substantial (by basic cable standards) amount of viewers watch it. Its just one of those shows that oddly no one talks about- because after the bit I started asking friends if they watch it and I had quite a few friends who regularly watched it. Anecdotal, of course.

I've been watching since the beginning and I love it. I don't think its lost its edge, even into its fifth season, while similar shows on cable like Nip/Tuck should have been retired long before their fifth go around. Even USA's similarly long in the tooth show, Psych, is showing its age.

Wifey and I finished BN season 2 last night and it has kept our interest even though the individual episodes are somewhat repetitive. The presentation is quite unique and interesting (even if some of it isn't true). Fiona needs to lose a bit of swagger and become more believable and Mike's mom needs to quit smoking though. ;D

I hope you don't view this as a spoiler, but they actually soften Fiona as the season's progress, and show her vulnerability somewhat. It makes her character even more enduring, in my opinion.

Mike's mom is still smoking, though. I find it refreshing. Characters never smoke on television anymore. Twenty percent of Americans still smoke- its part of who she is.
