The problem is that generally a smooth jazz station will only make a fraction of the money of more mainstream formats, especially in a market this size. Formats like that are usually put on the air, not by bottom-line oriented corporations, but by local owners who have an interest in the format. I'm not saying that smooth jazz stations can't make money, just that it's one of the less profitable formats. It's got to be run on an extremely thin shoestring, and it's always touch and go. I would be surprised if we ever have a smooth jazz station in OKC.
