First, welcome to Columbia. Hope you like it here.

In way of urban stations, it doesn’t offer much. KOPN 89.5 may offer some urban programming, but I’m not certain. KJLU 88.9 offers urban programming in the evenings and on weekends but is mostly smooth jazz.

When I first moved here in ‘01, KMJK 107.3 and KATZ-FM 100.3 could be picked up with a good car radio. I’m not sure if that’s still the case, though, as both stations have moved transmitters since then. (Plus, see below...)

I recommend getting a Bluetooth adapter and a smartphone. That’s how I do most of my radio listening. I actually use 107.3 for my Bluetooth FM transmitter.

KMJK 107.3 Can it be picked up here with a car radio?? KJLU 88.9 plays rap 8pm to 12am week days but it is newer garbage. I run a internet radio station called Phat Beats Radio playing Rap Hiphop RnB Soul Funk Reggae Chillhop Acid Jazz Blues From the 1970s to early 2000s 96k traxx in the playlist. pm me for the link to the station website.

I'd just listen to an oldschool hip-hop station through streaming if you want one, like your's.

There’s a low powered Chinese-language religious outfit there, but it’s highly susceptible to tropo, so ‘MJK should come in the further west you go. Best bet is to stream.

KLJE-LP has moved to 107.5. It moved a couple or three months ago.

I haven’t gotten KMJK since I moved back to Columbia three years ago. I lived in Callaway County roughly the 10 years prior. Guessing the move to North Kansas City from Lexington put it out of range here.

I use 107.3 for my Bluetooth transmitter, and I've gotten overpowered by KGRS a few times but never KMJK.
