I noticed that the River went from a 4.2 toa 2.5!

The the heck happened there?

Did they get arbi-TORN?

Be careful posting actual numbers.

The Blitz had a decent recovery, Sunny dropped quite a bit even though 93.3 was fairly flat. It also looks like country is exactly what 107.1 didn't need. I don't even remember seeing it that low as WAZU. Maybe once more people know about its new country format, it will do better. I doubt it though.

HAHAHA!!! 107.1 TANKED!!! Maybe a few more stations should flip to Country?

its only down .01 of a point WAZU was hardly doing much more the last 6 months

1230 am has lost 2/3 of it's audience since Summer of last year. It's a sad day when lib talk outdraws hodgepodge conservative talk.

Funny thing is, I tried listening to Jim Rome the other day and just couldn't stick with it.

It's interesting the WSNY, WBNS and WLZT are all nipping at each other's heels. I am guessing WSNY is the biggest loser in that batter. They used to be a perennial top 5 station but losing market to those other two is really dragging them down.

I'll be interested to see what direction CC goes with 106.7. Active rock or urban?

Be nice to see how WHKC 91.5 has affected the others ratings. Playing commercial free, talk free 80s I would think should have a some kind of impact on the other stations that play some 80s.

I could easily see them go Urban, I know, I know, they don't want to hurt WNCI but with RadioOne having two stations doing well WCKX, and WXMG I could see Clear Channel wanting to cut into that like they cut into WSNY with WLZT.

Seems as if at least 1 1/2 - 2 years now that SNY has been bouncing up and down a lot from quarterly to quarterly. Maybe they spend more on marketing in the more-important Spring and Fall books. BTW, instead of viewing it as "those other two dragging them down," I'd say it's more that SNY previously benefitted from an unusually small number of AC's in Columbus vs. comparably-sized markets.

97.1's uptick was less than half a point, and still leaves them at the below-4-points status they've had for at least a year.

Maybe they'll move the Brew to 106.7 (and sell 105.7??).

well as its been pointed out before, there is absolutely no marketing of that signal, be it the the lib or the conservative station. No billboards, not even an ad in any of the weeklies like the other paper or alive. i mean really, how much is that going to set a station back to do some trade with those papers? especially for the liberal station. thats just a no brainer.

I don't see urban just because of WNCI. I would like to see something like the Sound in Cincinnati. From the Cincinnati Enquirer:

""The Sound" was the No. 2 station (behind perennial leader WEBN-FM) for men ages 18-34. Overall, the Bonneville station more than doubled the audience of the old WAQZ-FM (97.3), the rock station operated by the previous owners, CBS and Entercom.

granted its only one book and things change but i think that this type of station could work here too. the old station sounded a little like CD101, just a little tighter playlist, slightly better jocks, and better imaging and production. i like the music on CD101 but everything else is just crap (jocks just ramble on about nothing, break into the music too much, production, imaging, etc...).

Why bother speculating about 106.7? We've been awaiting the FCC decision on its move from Marion to Dublin for what, almost two years now? Who knows how many more months or years it's going to take, or even what the ruling's going to be?

I think the most interesting thing about the Winter book is that "Superstars" like Glenn Beck, Jim Rome, Bill O'Reilly, and Dennis Miller haven't even budged WTDA's or 1230's overall ratings. Well, okay, in one station's case the number was budged ... downwards!

A total of seven female targeted stations had a significant drop. There's no indication of where the listeners went either. Arb. has been using a new online diary system (ebook) that has flopped in many markets (low participation). In some markets Arb. has even retracted some books.

Didn't I hear that Arb was completely dumping that system because of the low participation?

Correct. It's been scrapped. Even lower response rate than written diairies (unbelievable!)....

And not just that C-Bus. This was also a winter book. During this time, nighttime falls early. The 1230 signal at night is,
frankly, crap. Unlistenable in quite a few sections of town. The drop could likely reflect earlier nightfall.

Grego, of the WBZX morning show, had two of the WBZX salesladies give the good news about this
WBZX rating period... They were practically impressed with the increase in all demos of the WBZX morning show but also mentioned a few other time periods... The reason for the ratings report on his show?
Grego was not happy that the WBZX rating gains were not reported in today's Tim Feran Dispatch
column about the ratings. He claims that Tim Feran dose not like his show.

Format flip-flopping fails to help WYTS gain ground
Wednesday, May 9, 2007 3:45 AM

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Going conservative doesn't necessarily pay.

WYTS (1230 AM) found out the hard way after it switched from a liberal/

progressive format to a mainly conservative one in December.

Ratings for the station dropped according to the latest Arbitron radio survey, which polled central Ohio listeners from Jan. 11 to April 14: The station's ranking in the market, always near the bottom, fell to dead last.

Like he should care.  What % of the Blitz's listeners (those that can read, anyway) reads a mainstream newspaper like the Dispatch?  Ok, now that it's online maybe the % is higher -- but only slightly...

Besides, how much should you crow about increases when they're just bringing you up from a dip into the cellar, back to where you've historically been.
