Any effect by HD Radio on existing SCS Radio?

There still are a few services out there that use the Subcarrier. For example, on one of our HD stations we still run a Microsoft Subcarrier that sends out information to portable devices such as watches.

I would add a slight qualification to that answer -

HD in hybrid mode still has the ability to use subcarriers. As long as the analog component is there, subcarriers are unaffected by HD.

Fast forward to all digital transmission (if/when it happens). You lose the subcarriers, but the HD stream is capable of quite a bit of ancillary data...it's not hard to make the leap that stations would be willing to lease out some of that bandwidth for either audio or data applications.<P ID="signature">______________
