I've owned one for almost a year. Love it. Would never want to have to do without mine. Roku's website is loaded with setup info and software updates. Click on support, then click on forums.

<<Hi,

I been to that website..very helpful but info. I am also looking for is it easy to stream music services like MusicMatch Yahoo, Sirius or XM radio ? Also not sure i understand how the network stores Internet radio stations...is it similiar to Wi-Fi radio where you browse or do you need to add each station..if so is this difficult ? Thanks.

If you keep iTunes running on a networked computer, you should be able to stream iTunes radio stations through the Soundbridge M1001. Additional pre-programmed stations also will appear.

The Soundbridge has 18 presets that can be changed to whatever station you want via a web browser. That way, you don't need to have any computer tuned on. This is how I use it.

As an XM subscriber, I can listen to music services XM streams. There is an XM affiliated service that can enable the service via a Soundbridge. What it does is give you a method to embed your user ID and password in a special link that then serves up the requested XM stream. The link below explains how to do this at no additional charge.

I don't listen to the other services you mentioned, but I assume if the service requires an ID and password you'll need a similar setup because the required user input would have to be automated within the link in order to listen.

Roku has also just unveiled Radio Roku.

Sounds good..does this mean for the itunes thar are listed in the SoundBridge M1001 browser there's no need to have your pc on in order to access those persets ? Also from the XM stream URL you mentions..is that available without your pc on or is it necessary to have your pc on ?
I'm wondering if a similiar method might also work for Sirius streams...Thanks.

The Soundbridge M1001 has a listing of "Top Stations" that plays without any computer on. My favorite XM stations also work without a computer turned on. Read the instructions at the url I gave you above. Each time you click on the preset with your remote, you'll be going through a third-party's server which processes your ID and password before connecting you to the XM stream.

To set up your 18 presets, the free Roku Radio Snooper software does a good job in getting you the exact stream link you would need. Simply copy and paste the link into a browser window that is accessing your presets page on your network.

If you want to access additional music or stations via a share-enabled iTunes or a Firefly server, that's the only time you need your computer turned on.

<<ok that sounds good...however does it mean the url stream needs to be active though Roku Radio Snopper ? I might be getting it mixed up with finding various streams with regular URL Snopper though...I guess if i am putting in my user name & password there won't be any expiration time for that stream...will keep in touch here..hope to have my new SoundBridge M1001 sometime next week. >>

Snooper is a utility that finds links. It is not part of the listening or tuning process.

Explore Roku's forums, They are chock full of great info and useful tips. The Soundbridge is a great piece of hardware. I have yet to use much of its functionality.

Ok thanks for all your help...hope i don't have any problems setting up....Thanks again...

I just received my package today...The unit itself says SoundBridge M1000..the sticker for the serial number & Model number attached to the unit does say M1001..the package itself says M1000...Support has told me this is how they shipped them so I should be ok..they also explained the back of the unit should have 2 connectors which are like square boxes. I haven't begun to setup yet but hope to get to this later this evening.
