Any Good Full or Part Time Jocks On Cape Cod ?

I like Dan & Steph on the Rose as well as Shannon I think this night jock for the Rose is going places.and Cheryle Parks on WQRC is great.
As far as Part -Timers I like Joe Brady on WCOD on Sundays, I think I also heard him on Cool 102. There is a weekend girl on the Rose ( Can't remember her name I think it's Cally (?) she is pretty decent. I also from time to time listen to Fun 107 and like Erica. Lori Lori on Pixy 103 is pretty good too

yep Shannon at the Rose, and now Cool 102, is a star in the making. Cheryl Park is very well polished, as is Ron Dwyer. All three have the potential to work in two-digit markets if they pursue it.

this could be a very good thread if folks stick to jocks who they think are good, and not who they think are bad. Agreed? It could be fun and constructive if we dont make it personal.........

Ron Dwyer did mid-days at Kiss (WXKS) in Boston during their hayday in the 80s.

I like P.J.Finn on MVY Radio. He's interesting & a good one-on-one communicator & sounds like a nice guy.

speaking of mvy radio... is gary trust still there?

No, he left quite a while ago. He did the morning show for a few months then just disappeared. He was a good fit for the format.

Who Remembers Ron Dwyer on 96.3 WNXT? or WATB on the Cape?
what was the dial # of WATB????103.9?????

Aside from Ron Dwyer in Boston in the Eighties and Shane Blue at Kiss 108, do Cape Cod jocks ever go on to bigger and better? Name another Cape Cod jock who has gone on to work in a top20 market. Even top 50. How about top 90? I can name you plenty of current cape jocks who couldn't keep a job off-cape and then came running back to the cape because nobody else would hire them...

And I don't want to hear the excuse.....

"Well....Cape Cod is sooo awesome that Cape Cod jocks never want to leave the market. It's not because they lack talent it's because they love where they live...."

there are a number of news and on-air folks over the years who got their start on the cape who moved on to larger markets and never came back to work on the Cape....that's not the point of this stream. the point is to highlight those who are here now who we all think are good and deserved of recognition.

I dont get it, [EDIT]....if you hate this market so much and the people who work in it, why do you endlessly feel the need to comment on it? So what, you hate Qantum. So what, you hate anyone associated with Qantum. Let go of your bad Cape experience that only you care about and try offering some practical advice/knowledge in your postings that could help someone better their career in radio.

I worked with Chase for well over a year on 'COD. GREAT GUY! Has had success after leaving the Cape. You can put him on the list of people who have gone on to bigger and better. Did overnights at WDVD in Detroit and now is at Alice in Denver. He deserves everything that comes his way and I still talk to him occasionally. As far as others who have gone from here to bigger and better Greg Cassidy came from bigger places and after leaving the Cape programmed KIMN in Denver. On 'COD before Chase came to town, Cheryl Parks did a show with a gentleman named Willie. He also left and was in Denver for a good while. Also mentioned was top 90 markets. Steve "Damon" Stewart left the Cape to go to Springfield, MA which I believe even after restructuring is still in the top 90 markets and after a successful programming stint in Myrtle Beach he is moving to Grand Rapids, Michigan which I know is top 90. RJ Mckay who worked for Cool 102 a number of years also programmed in Springfield, MA at WPKX before heading south to Program somewhere in Pennsylvania. Finally, Scott Eck who used to do work for the Boch family on WXTK went to Boston and I believe is still working for WBZ. There are a few that go on from the Cape to bigger and better. All are great people (Never met Scott Eck but I hear nothing but good) who deserve the success that they have had. Some people are content with being on the Cape and don't want to go anywhere. If you can make a career where you are happy and don't want to move away. Then Congrats to those people.

Ricky, you are class. Keep at it - you'll be back to work in no time, I know it.

And don't forget Ray Brown and Albert Calvert!

I've found it to be pretty interesting listening to one time morning show partners Dan & Kevin competing against each other (although I realize they're owned by the same company). I would have to say that Dan is running away with it as far as quality goes as Dan & Stephanie are actually decent.

I also think that Matty B (PIXY), Cheryl Park (WQRC), and the voice guy (Frank-FM) all do a good job on Cape Cod.

Great topic Joe Brady, I mean Hoopiedoo! There definitely are some good jocks coming up on Cape Cod. I've heard a couple good jocks on various stations during the weekends too but I can't remember names.

Don't let "NoJuice9696" get ya' down. He talks smack on purpose in hopes to get a rise out of people. He does it on this board and numerous other radio-related sites. He's really not a hater---he just loves to play one on these sites and he loves when he gets a reaction. Ignore the hate, people.

Contrary to a previous post, I had a blast working on the Cape. I met and worked with some great people---some of whom are still working in Cape radio. Our management assembled a great team and I consider my time on the Cape, helping to turn WCOD around, as one of my best accomplishments in radio. It was a total team effort and I was lucky to be a part of it. I read a critique about my morning show skills on another thread on this site---something about Cheryl Park being the talent, and I was just a "yuck yuck" morning guy. I had to chuckle. So true! I rode Cheryl's coat tails to morning ratings success on Cape Cod and now I'm riding my afternoon show partner's coat tails to ratings success here in Denver. It's all about the coat tails, people.

B-Man! Thanks for the kind words. I hope you have a demo handy, Ricky. Our cluster is looking for a couple of Production Assistants, so call me! The Mile High City wants to "feel your sting". It's all about the sting, people.

I know this is an extremely old topic but with WRZE now off air they played a montage yesterday of all past Rose DJ's and I was listening to Damon Stewart and I remember loving him when he was on air. I was wondering if anyone had any current info on what market he might be working in now?

Yes, he is one of my best friends still. He is the PD/OM of the Country station in Grand Rapids, Michigan owned by Citadel. He goes by "Scrubs" on the radio during their morning show. Good guy. Drop him a note at the station. He will probably get a kick out of someone remembering him from his days on the Cape.

Cool......thank you so much. Can you PM me his E-mail at the station or a phone number for the station call in line.

ETA found the station. Thanks for the info. Ricky (if you still read this) when are you on air?
