KMPZ 96.7,KLUV 98.7 play alot of 70s,80s....not sure about 90s tho.you could always try Satellite Radio.

In a word, No.

DFW Radio sucks !!

Heck, I was driving from Wichita Kansas back to DFW and driving through OKC, they even have a Smooth Jazz channel. Why the heck can't we????

Shaking fist at sky and the morons at CBS radio !!

Really the only good 60's 70's 80's Stations are KPMZ 96.7 and KLUV 98.7. Also KEOM 88.5.
Mighty 1650 [IMHO] Plays a good mix of 60's-90's. But only streams on Saturday and Sunday.

Congrats on your 1st post here....

Are you new to the area ?

Satellite Radio probably has just what you're looking for.

The salespeople at the Box stores (ir Circuit City, Best Buy, Frys) can demo and explain it for you...

smooth jazz is one of a few formats quickly leaving many markets. a large enough portion of the total audience is not interested in it as a listening option. a few years back it was a fast mover. now it is almost gone.

Some of you must have stopped reading after the OP listed the years. The poster was asking for a station that plays "rock" from those years. So you gotta scratch KPMZ and KEOM from the list, because neither of them are rock heavy. And KEOM ran off their best music programmer, so you'll probably have several months of tweaking there. The way they have been tweaking so far, has made it more mellow. KLUV is probably about as close as you'll get for the time being.

Seriously? Have you even been into those stores? The salsepeople have no clue what HD is, much less have a working demo of it.

Agreed, salespeople do not have a clue about HD Radio, and what it offers.

But..... there are salespeople who can educate and inform about Satellite Radio, and what it offers ! ;)

Or then again, come back here and us blowhards will be happy to educate. Welcome to RI. Good times. ;D

Since Russ left the air, I have lost interest in radio. Still listen to Hal in the morning.

Personally, I'm not that impressed with satellite radio. I don't own one, but have had it in rental cars during my frequent travels. I just think that the stations are over pasteurized and homogenized. I guess I'm just an old fart, but I long for the good old days when each city had it's own rock jocks that made each town's rock stations (yes plural) unique and entertaining in their own right. Good, bad or indifferent, they were unique personalities. (Heavy sigh), I'll shuffle off in my worn slippers and eat my left over oatmeal now.....
