ANY GOOD SALES OPENINGS???

The folks at Entercom are always looking for Sales help, especially for WNTR.

But, then again, you did say "any good sales openings". So, I'm not sure if that will work for you.

There are lots of great sales openings but they're not in broadcasting. Use the contacts you already have to start your search but expand your vision beyond radio/TV.

I don't believe there is such a thing.
I suspect you're a fan of Death of a Salesman.

Federated Media's Warsaw Cluster is looking for full time sales. I've heard ad's on both WRSW and Willie 103.5. New GM at this cluster.... Might be worth a look.

The sales openings I've experienced do not offer a list, you are expected to find new business. This could be a problem if the market is already crawling with other media sales people. In my neck of the woods you have a dozen radio stations (over half sell at a single digit rate or use a dog signal as "added value"), cable insert, OTA TV, print, outdoor, and other offerings. Plus you have to compete with your fellow account executives and boss.

Good luck.

Yes, Patrick Brown is gone. Clint Marsh, who was the PD and OM at B100 in South Bend is Warsaw's new GM.

I heard that the WFMS sales manager has just quit and others have left the building this week as well.

True???

They have the most ratings in the market. If you can't sell that. Wonder why the jumping ship?

Anybody making money at the Indianapolis Star? Their news content keeps shrinking but their ad content seems to be going up. Or maybe it just appears to be going up since they have so much less editorial content nowdays. Will radio be able to grab more of those print dollars soon?

The Star has made quite a few job cuts lately.

And did you see that newspapers in Detroit will stop delivering the paper except on Thursday, Friday and Sunday?

WFMS' GSM, R. Green, did leave the building. The station may have substantial ratings, and a list open, but it could be very difficult to work there in sales moving forward.

I was given a “golden opportunity” at The Notre Dame Stations [WNDU] upon college graduation in the late 70s. ‘NO BETTER folks to work for! Different era, though. My initial paycheck was in the “hi-teens” – ended-up at a few pennies short of “six figures”... ‘Don’t know if such opportunities are front-‘n-center today... ‘Doubt-it ‘n SAD!

I worked for one of THE BEST [and most ethical] RSMs in this biz—Bob Nowicki... ‘Haven’t bumped into ANYONE of his character and professionalism since [he passed-away last year]. I regarded him as a “second Father”—he ment that much to me!

Local radio sales has taken a “here for today – ANYTHING GOES” sleazy turn that would have made my fatherly mentor [Bob] VERY SAD. I don’t see this unfortunate trend reversing itself in this current climate – especially with the “current crop” of so-called “broadcat executives” – and this will surly DOOM this current-day business! HOW DO YOU SPELL “DOOM”? ... D-O-O-M... Or "C-O-R-P-O-R-A-T-E R-A-D-I-O"
