Any Hope for KTU?

Was just in the city this past weekend and man, KTU stinks! What is with the overkill of classic dance, they don't even make an attempt to play current dance, just current pop and r&b and hip-hop. Don' t like it at all couldn't stand to keep them on. Will KTU EVER GO BACK TO BEING THE TRUE BEAT OF NY? Here on LI Party 105 started saying "NY's only Dance Music Station" Is that a sign that KTU is classic dance. Apparently 102.7 is becoming soft ac. Wouldn't the fact that classic dance failed want to drive KTU to a more modern direction? I think THis should be what KTU does, 103.5 KTU NY's Dance Authority, today's dance and the best freestyle, The official beat to move your feet. Any thoughts?

If Mix goes away, which at this point seems certain, KTU might go back to airing a few more new cuts, but nothing drastic. Perhaps towards summer they'll add a few more, but I don't see CC allowing too much free rein, especially with Whoopi in the mornings. I'd certainly love to see more new dance come back though but unfortuantely with the way radio is run, I don't see it happening

KTU's been like this for the past few months though, and certainly doesn't come close to Party as a new dance station. However, since Party and the other two TMO stations was sold...let's see if Party even remains or if the new owners ditch the format.

MIX switching to FRESH is the best news ever for WKTU. WKTU doesn't need to go more modern, if they stay the course they should pick up just about all of MIX's former audience and add it to what they already have.

I believe that ktu will now own the market for thick gold chain wearing New Yawkas 25-54, even though they now sound bland and boring. They own the Ginas but they could stand to pump some newer dance for the Joeys too. Woopie should do some super liberal Bush is the devil rants, then she will connect with the target audience more or ah muha.

Since you brought politics foolishly into this you need to know what you're talking about as you clearly do not. As for Whoopi doing her anti Bush rants that would not work because tthe "Gina's and the Joey's" as you so politically incorrectly put it tend not to even register to vote. However if they do they tend to vote republican. The blue collor dopes tend to vote republican even though the policies dont do well for them in their daily lives, the republicans tend to make them feel good about being rah rah "Americans", I noticed that when i first moved to NYC during the Regan era, the few that vote, voted republican, they coulddn't really tell you why but they just knew that was the party for them and Ronnie was their man. Same with Rudy sure you can point to the Itallian thing in his case but he is also a republican first..

As for KTu having any hope/ they essentially ran their competition out of town (actually their competition decided to go after a bigger more lucrative clear channel fish) so they are the last man standing. THey would have to be ok by default if nothing else.

90 percent of New York City residents in the last presidential election voted for Kerry. I doubt that remaining 10 percent was made up of Joeys and Ginas.

to begin with this thread has veered so far off of the topic of "fresh 102.7 Vs KTU but since it has I did not say anything about havinga preference of one party over the other. I merely responded to someone's suggestion that to attract the "Joey's and Gina'" which I take to mean "Guidos" which we all take to mean blue collar Itallian Americans that he presumed are the only ones listening to KTU (Dumb assumptions all the way aorund) he also suggested that Whoopie go off on her anti Bush rants, I merely pointed out that the audience he is speculating about tend to either not vote at all or they vote republican with no good reason why. I also dont think I said anything unamerican by referring to the particular group in question "Blue collar dopes", I dont see that as any worse than you projecting your knee jerk conservative agenda by suggesting that any working person who votes for a "liberal democrat" has been "duped" My suspicion is that you like most Fox news regurgitating zombies could not even define what a "liberal" is if you were asked, you just know that it is something that is considered negative, and you associate "liberals" as being synonymous with democrats, again not very smart thinking. I am neither ashamed of being American nor am I some flaming "Liberal", nor am I some flag waving proud to be American, American who despite the current shape of the country still feels the need to yell "we're number one" when other countries are mentioned in conversation... so dont put words in my mouth.
