Unfortunately I am not wealthy enough to travel overseas.
(please permit me a short veer off topic....)
The notion that you have to be wealthy to travel internationally is a myth perpetuated chiefly by those who've never done it! Sure it can very easily be expensive. But with a little planning and determination it can also be surprisingly affordable. I've had to pay higher airfare flying from Chicago to Cincinnati than I've spent on some of my trips from Chicago to Europe. Deals pop up all the time on sites like Kayak that search multiple vendor websites. Especially during "off seasons"
Airline seats and hotel rooms are perishable inventory. When demand drops (and it always does), prices plummet. Be flexible with your plans and move quickly when windows of opportunities open. Once you're at your destination, make it a point to find out where the locals go and go there yourself. As I've posted before, I'm in London a lot. Not only for business, but also because our daughter is there. It can be a very expensive place, and sure, we go to nice restaurants from time to time, but even in one of the world's priciest cities, I can also always find a neighborhood pub and get a good meal for less than ten bucks.
Go for it!
