Any new rumblings on CC spinoffs?

Assuming MIX is the station CC gets rid of along with Mega, what are the chances of the existing formats staying put? Of course, it depends on which Company ends up with them. For example, if CBS or Cox ends up with MIX and Mega, do they keep those formats, or try something new? Does CBS or Cox have any Spanish language formats on any of their stations?

CBS has Spanish language FMs in DC and Tampa, and owns 10% of SBS.

I would think CBS might be more likely to retain Mega and perhaps just tweak Mix. Unless they want to go after KODA and launch a "Fresh" format here.

I don't see Cox wanting to keep the Mega format. Would they move Country Legends to a full signal and use the combo with KKBQ to fatally damage KILT-FM?

I have been hoping for the "Fresh" format here to go after Sunny for quite some time. I have nothing against Sunny but with all of the Houston stations in format wars, such as the KKBQ/KILT's competition, the KRBE/Hot 95.7 war, etc., Sunny does not have the direct competition pressures that keep the other stations striving for greatness. In the late 90s, Sunny sounded a lot better than they do now; now, at times, the station sounds as though it cannot be decided if they want to be a current station, a disco station, or a classic rock station. I think they (KODA) could be a better radio station, if they had another station, in a similar to keep them on their toes, so to speak. Just my opinion.....

And then they might get KTRH and change KLOL to KTRH-FM to boot. CBS seems to like doing this in this market. Maybe Cumulus might get KHMX (the old KXYZ-FM) and the irony is that they own the ABC radio network.

I often listen to Fresh on my pc. People should be told of that option instead of listening to 99.1. Spread the word!

I can almost hear, in the rare times I listen to Sunny these days, the idea of turning Sunny into a softer Mix format (assuming Mix is sold and the market is void of the current Mix direction). Wouldn't it be ironic if Sunny continues to sound like Mix, KHMX is sold to CBS or Cumulus, and then the station is thus flipped to the Fresh format to compete with Sunny? I think this would be a fun idea to follow, should it happen. I agree, listen to Fresh online; you'll be happier than listening to Sunny!
