any one else sick of this?

So sick of the CC vs Galaxy posts. I'm not for or against either though there seems to be more complaints posted against CC so I'm guessing Levine's followers are throwing more dirt (or Levine's multiple accounts). I'm not saying that there isn't validity to either side's argument but the personal name trashing is pathetic. Maybe there is more to the stories we are being told. Hmmm, could that be possible....

Forums can be a wonderful way to improve the craft, the skill, the trade...radio. Instead this is used as a personal playground of slander. It's sad that the personal lives of these individuals isn't full enough to keep them from petty talk. Syracuse and our nation have issues you should be focusing on fixing not mud slinging.

I have a challenge. If you are going to sling mug then sign your name. Not the username you hide behind - use your real name. I think we would all like to see who is behind the negative posts so if you are from Galaxy or CC we can put it into perspective. Otherwise lets not hear so much personal trash talk.

You Want Sick?

Since CC, Galaxy, and Citadel have edicts in place prohibiting posting on forums like this, I don't think that you'll be seeing many people sign their names. Jobs are too hard to come by.

Radio is a cutthroat business, always has been and always will be. Besides, if you think it's bad now, you should have been on here a few years ago.

Be careful what you wish for...

There was a time when this board was filled with a level of vitriol beyond belief. It was a raging battle between one station or another, with a constant stream of attacks and counterattacks to the point that the floor, metaphorically speaking, was awash in blood and bile. There would be so many posts that topics would roll off the front page in a day, and sometimes in hours. It was Thunderdome, a freak show, and the worst of the Jerry Springer show all rolled into one.

It was also when this board happened to be one of the most popular on Radio-Info.

Now it's a lot nicer, with a level of competitiveness not much beyond what you'd find at a Rotary Club meeting. A kinder, gentler place where people are free to reasonably discuss the pressing radio issues of the day in a mature and adult manner. It's exactly what so many said they wanted.

Which, of course, means that the board's readership and activity has plunged to nearly non-existent levels. Weeks will go by without a single post, threads will taper off and vanish with only a few lonely replies, and, somehow, that burst of wonderfully reasoned and intelligent discussion everyone desperately craved never quite materialized.

Oops.

My, my, my... just when some of us thought this board was on its way to setting a record for apathy, (it was beginning to look like the Binghamton board... but even the Bingo board has seen more activity lately) there appears to be a pulse. Well, almost. Good to see somebody injecting a shot of eppy into this cadaver of a board that was flat-lining.

Ahh for the halcyon days Primus-Dickus-Biggus recalls... when threads erupted like pimples on the face of a 13 year old Goth chick (heh, heh) and the board rocked (or reeked) with minute by minute jibes, digs, insults and crossfire that resembled a cheap, painless, literary version of Fallujah.

Wonder where 'Bone is hanging these days. Perhaps like Biggus was, Bone's spending some time on Radio Corsica.

One of my all-time favorites was a scathing post BiggusDickus posted about WIBX maybe 4 or 5 years ago.

Unfortunately, that was back on the "original" forum system, and the thread didn't get moved over to this current system when they did the site upgrades a couple years back. Or if it did... I couldn't find it through the search function. I tried searching under WIBX as well as the "house of X," because I clearly remember Biggus referring to the station as such.

Just to be clear, I don't want a return of the "You suck!" "No, you suck!" type posts. I've never liked that kind of pointless twaddle and I don't mean to suggest that it's something that should be encouraged.

On the other hand, I do think a certain level of bitter, hateful noise is the inevitable by-product of a healthy discussion. "Da Noize" might be juvenile and embarrassing, but it demonstrates that a board's readership has at least some kind of passion about what they do. That's what I really miss- the passion. The willingness, to paraphrase Mencken, to hoist the black flag and start slitting throats that separates people that believe in something from the passive drones that couldn't care less.

We've lost that, and like all truly terrible losses you don't realize how important the thing was until it's long gone.

I'm not sure if that soul-crushing loss of passion helped cause the decline of area radio or was an inevitable result of it, but I do know the two are closely linked. You can't spit flames unless there's a raging fire in your belly. Sadly, I think our fires have been damped down to nothing more than some feebly glowing coals.

Yeesh, no thanks. I came here from Boston and that Radio-Info board is FULL of hatred, slander and vitriol. Based on Boston's boards...and several other boards...I don't think it's truly possible to have a "spirited discussion" on Radio-Info without it immediately turning into a slanderfest; there's too much anonymity...to easy for one person to be giant a@@hole.

"No thanks," indeed...I'd rather have a quiet board than one full of spite and malice.
