i just started using sirius and it is received by my car radio on an fm frequency between 88.1-89.3 or 106.7-107.9. What would be the best and next best 2 or 3 frequencies to use in the houston area to listen to sirius with-out any interferance from real broadcasters?

88.1
88.3
88.5
88.7
88.9
89.1
89.3

106.7
106.9
107.1
107.3
107.5
107.7
107.9<P ID="signature">______________

88.3 works for me
106-107 gets bleed over from 1069 the point and KLDE.

Try 103.7, no one's using it.

Too bad that you don't have the option to use 87.9. With my XM Radio unit, I use that frequency.

He must have bought one of those early FM modulators that only tune a few frequencies. I have had three now. One an analog tuned unit (drifts), one of the digital ones with only four frequencies - finally I got a Belkin that tunes them all digitally. The new all frequency Belkins are coming down in price, I've seen them for $20, and they have better volume than before, equal to regular FM. The only problem I have is the stupid automatic power on / off function. I wish I could bypass it.

BTW-I would try 94.9 or 103.7.

Theres a Pirate STILL on 94.9 using that frequency in the TC Jester/43rd/Ella area of town. If you are not in that area, 94.9 would work.

Re: Pirate still on at 94.9

My XM Roady2 works best on 88.5 or 107.7 when it's overcast.

The new RoadyXT supposedly uses any frequency so your options are better. I'm thinking about upgrading my radio soon.

Sheesh - if I lived in that area, I would be mad as heck about KLTY being jammed! Why doesn't somebody shut the creep down?!

KLTY is a Dallas station.....and he is in Houston..maybe thats why...
KLTY does not make it to Houston anyway...

Occasionally it does, at least at my Cy-Fair location. Probably the most likely DFW FM signal to be heard in Houston during good tropo conditions.

I have it pretty reliably in most of Houston when I visit - at least as well as KRBE used to come into Dallas before they jammed it with a lame sports station up there.

Of course I have a decent car radio, not some stock radio or trendy piece of junk.

You will run into the same problem I had when I lived in the S.F Bay area in 1975, only ten fold worse. I had a converter for FM that worked on an open AM frequency from 1400kHz to 1600kHz to rebroadcast the FM tuner. As I traveled to different areas of Northern California I would always run into a frequency (or adjacent frequencies) that was in use that I had the converter set to use. It would result in a squeeling mix of the two signals and redendered the FM converter useless.

As you travel around Houston you are going to find the two most likely useful frequencies with a signal that may/will be strong enough to override the signal that Sirius has on that frequency from the converter. The frequencies being 88.1 and 88.3, all the others have high power stations or are 1st adjacents, unless your vehicle receiver can handle a strong signal on two adjact frequencies. If possible and the receiver can use both signals clearly, go for an open frequency like 88.5 or 107.1. It dependends on the selectivity of the FM tuner that is in your car. If that works it would be the ideal solution for metro Houston.

If you use 88.3 KAFR Conroe could cause interference problems in much of the city north of the I-10 corridor and possibly south in some areas. Pasadena and Katy both use 88.1 and the frequency would be a problem if you are in the western side of Houston from K201EU Katy or in the Pasadena area from KFTG.

I would try 88.5 and see if your car radio can receive Sirius clear and still receive KUHF 88.7 or 107.1 and see if KHPT 106.9 Conroe and Sirius are both listenable with a good signal.

Let me know how this works for you, Thanks.
