Thoughts/Feelings on stations rankings? Who's going to jump who's going to fall?
 
Again you add nothing Ms. RadioCrusader keep working in the clear channel payroll department. Your one of those annoying office people that tells everyone they work in radio. But yet you have done nothing in radio and comment on everything. Don't they have some kind of accountant board you can post on?

I suspect that KNGY will go up, and some of the niche stations that don't normally show up at all (KEST, KVTO, KPIG, etc) will grab a little bit from the top dogs. Those stations are playing here and there, and chances are that they will be heard by a PPM.

Since people are living so much longer these days, I predict that PPM will uncover a vast audience of retired people over 80 years of age. These folks (and David Kaye) long for the glory days of "elevator music" radio that was so successful in the 1960s and 70s. So by this time next year, Clear Channel will flip 960 AM and 98.1 back to a KABL simulcast and revive the "Beautiful Music." format.

Within a few months, KFOG and KOIT will also flip back to Motovani and Percy Faith music to share in the vast untapped advertising potential in geriatric products, medicare supplementals, AARP services, power scooters, and oxygen delivery systems.

I'm sure David Eduardo will agree with this prediction.
 
I have a feeling KGO will be hurt pretty bad. I am pretty sure that a large amount of old people write that they listen to talk radio all day long when it is simply not the case.

I also have very little faith in anyone over the age of 65 to use anything new.

Arbitron has already reported that there is one station with a cume over 1.5 million. 5 stations with a cume over 1 million and 14 stations with cumes over 600,000.

No station with a cume of over 1.5 million. Sorry. 4 were over 1 million 12+: KOIT, KYLD, KIOI, & KMEL in that order. What? No KGO? Nope, they're #11 now.
 
Someone at Entercom says KOIT was 1.6 million in the 6+ demo.
And KGO remains #1 in 12 plus and 6 plus. I guess Jack Swanson can use the Mark Twain line.
 
KOIT was #1 for July - no, not 1.6m, but I'm not sure we're supposed to quote exact #s on this board so I won't. Most stations were up in Cume -- those not up were KQED, and quite a few AMs. There were a few surprises here and there but overall the market was up all together. To quote Arbitron: 19 stations with cumes of over 500,000.

KBAY and KEZR lead the pack in San Jose, virtually tied in cume, with #3 station being almost 20% behind them.

Not really. Sales are 25-54, and KGO has fallen more than 10 rank positions to 18th in that demo.

Looks as though the San Francisco radio dial is going to be in for some big changes when the PPM kicks in full force. Its time for KGO to move to FM. What a time to for Citadel to be out of money and so far down in stock price. .95 at the close today, sad really sad.

I've got to ask though - is the reason for KGO's fall attributable to being on AM only; or is it their overall aging demographic, and the station's "old fogey" hosts that talk about topics that younger listeners are not interested in? If that's the case, moving to FM would not solve anything, or maybe help just a little bit.

Also remember that FM talk stations in the Bay Area - including the station that supposedly catered to a younger demo (Free FM) have not been succesful.

Note: I am not criticizing - I like KGO the way it is. Of course, I'm an old fogey.
