Any Ratings On "Cane" ?

C

Casablanca

Cane has to be one of the worst new series to come down the pike in years. It is unwatchable and derivative of other more interesting movies and series. Jimmy Smits comes off like a Mafia thug without the depth or complexity of Tony Soprano or the out of control Al Pacino in Scarface.

Wonder if CBS if afraid to cancel this turkey because of the ethnic make up of its cast?

Again, Cane is not able.

You're watching a different show than I am...Cane is one of the better new shows on television.

I'll concede that the show is derivative--if sugar is the new oil, than Cane is definitely following upon the Dallas formula. But it seems quite fresh for CBS, who's put more police/law enforcement consultants to work than any media outlet (they've relied way too heavily on crime-of-the-week shows). And if you're a primetime soap, the Dallas playbook is pretty much required reading.

Your comparisons to Tony Soprano and Scarface aren't equitable--they weren't characters helming network shows. Alex Vega still has to sell the soap (not to mention the sugar!). As for ratings, it's holding its own well against the well established Law & Order: SVU and Boston Legal.

Needless to say, I hope CBS sticks with the show.

Nate, I hate to tell you this, but Casa is in the majority on this one. "Cane" has been pretty much panned by the critics, in addition to not showing ratings.
This one will probably be gone faster than you can say "Studio 60."

Yup. I saw part of an episode the other night. Didn't seem like much great shakes.
