Any times when two FM stations from 2 different states come in at the same time?

This has not happened to me but how about you? Have there been any times when 2 states come in on FM at the same time?

-crainbebo

On a daily basis I have 94.3 from Asbury Park, NJ and Smithtown, NY, 98.3 from New Brunswick, NJ and Hempstead, NY, 107.1 from Briarcliff Manor, NY and Long Branch, NJ, and 106.3 from Mount Kisco, NY and Eatontown, NJ mixing in.

During Tropo, Philly and Hartford stations are both received on the same frequencies.

Re: Any times when two FM stations from 2 different states come in at the same t

88.9 - Milwaukee, South Bend (Notre Dame)
99.9 - Benton Harbor, Janesville
101.5 - Madison, South Bend, Bloomington(IL)
104.7 - Milwaukee (Sturtevant), Morris(IL), Elkhart

Happens all the time where 103.7 Westerly RI and 103.7 Keene NH "meet" in areas NW of Worcester, MA . Location is closer to Keene (40 mi + or -) than Westerly (maybe 70 mi).

Daily event here...WULF/Hardinsburg,KY (class C2) and WIFE FM/Rushville,IN (Class A) share 94.3 every day here. There are many other examples here...that's just the first one that came to mind.

Exactly the same here.

Evolve991, the W??? Va is WFLS in Fredericksburg.

In northern Va I once had Baltimore's WERQ 92.3 and WQSL 92.3 from Jacksonville, NC came one at the same time during a nighttime tropo.

In Concord, CA, depending on where you are parked, you can get either 105.7 KVVF from San Jose, CA or you can get 105.7 KOZZ from Reno, NV. In the Sacramento Valley, you can get either 102.9 KBLX from San Francisco, CA or 102.9 KWYL from Reno, NV depending on where you are. Even though KWYL's city of license is South Lake Tahoe, CA, I think their main audience is in Reno.

Thanks DD,now I know who's screwin' up Preston and Steve for me. I also have 94.7 WDSD 'twangin' over 94.7 WTGB which means even if i HAD an HD radio I could not listen to HFS2.

From Floral Park, NY (Long Island, just outside Queens, NY):

99.1 - WAWZ, Star 99.1, Zarephath, NJ (Christian Radio) & WPLR, New Haven, CT (AOR)

101.5 - W268AN, Party 105, Plainfield, NY (Translator for WDRE) & WKXW, Trenton, NJ

103.1 - WBZO, B-103, Bay Shore, NY (Oldies), W276AQ - Fort Lee, NJ, "The Bridge" (Low Power Christian Radio)

All the time on:
94.5 WDAC Lancaster / WPST Trenton
96.1 WCTO Easton / WSOX Red Lion
103.3 WPBR Princeton / WARM York
107.9 WRNB Philly / WKRF Tobyhanna

Many times on 105.7 3 stations mix in...WQXA York / WHFS Baltimore and WCHR Manahawkin. It was real fun when back in the day Baltimore and York both had Howard Stern on in the AM...the Manahawkin station was not on the air yet back then.

tropo causes this on many other stations.

Re: Any times when two FM stations from 2 different states come in at the same t

I actually had this happening last night on 101.1, the semi local WYDE-FM jumping back and forth with another 101.1 (likely the one from Nashville). I've also had it happen with:

92.9 WJXA Nashville (closest) blending with WZGC Atlanta AND WTUG Tuscaloosa AL
95.5 WSM-FM Nashville (closest) blending with WBTS Atlanta
99.5 W258AU Chase AL (local) blending with WZRR Birmingham AL
103.5 WHWT Huntsville AL (local) blending with WLAY Muscle Shoals AL
105.5 WYTM Fayetteville TN (local) blending with WVNA-FM Muscle Shoals AL
106.5 W293AH Huntsville AL (local) blending with WSKZ Chattanooga TN
106.9 WBPT Birmingham AL (closest) blending with WKXD Cookeville TN

All the time from Dayton, OH..98.1 can have 3 (WBUL Lexington KY, WGXM Dayton OH, WDFM Defiance OH.)

Others
105.3 WKOA Laf IN and WYHT Mansfield OH
97.9 WNCI Columbus OH and WGNR Anderson IN
99.5 WZPL INdy, WGAR Cleveland, WGXM translator, Dayton OH
many more

On a few occasions while driving from Long Island to Philly, I found two somewhat ridiculously close-spaced stations taking turns on the Outerbridge.
Going up the bridge, leaving Staten Island, was the aforementioned WKJY Hempstead. Of course, going down the bridge it's co-channel WMGQ 98.3 New Brunswick.

I have to double-check to be sure, but I seem to recall both of these stations showing up in the latest New York City ratings as well. With all the conflicts listed on this thread, that cannot be the only instance where two different stations on the same frequency 'make' a book. But, splitting hairs here, it must be even rarer for a 'book' to list two stations on the same frequency from different states, like the thread began.

* * * * *

Someone mentioned WDSD's 'twang', LOL, being a bother at times. I just wanted to mention that WDSD is one of the better, if not *the* best, tropo indicators I've heard (or not heard). They are quite often the pilot light for trope in these parts.

For those of you living or traveling between NYC & Philly, when does 101.1 start battling each other and cancel each other out?
WCBS is solid till a few miles south of exit 9 (New Brunswick)
WBEB is solid till a few miles north of exit 7A (Hamilton)

Do you get some spots where they are both hammering each other?

Yeah, between exits 7A and 9. In my old hometown of West Windsor, exactly halfway between NY and Philly, they hammered each other.

The northeast provides the lowest hanging fruit to be "picked" for this discussion. My recent trip home to southern NH gave me a couple of nice examples:

93.3: WNHW Belmont, NH, WSNE Taunton MA

94.1: W231BR Manchester, NH (translator of the CHR format that's WZID-HD2), WFTN Franklin, NH, WHJY Providence, RI

99.1: WNNH Henniker, NH; WPLM Plymouth, MA

102.9: WLLO-LP Londonderry, NH; WBLM Portland, ME (inexplicably short spaced by someone who's never field checked WBLM)

103.7: WKNE Keene, NH; WPKQ Conway/Mt. Washington, NH; WEEI-FM Westerly, RI

When tropospheric ducting is taking place (common during summer), numerous frequencies are invaded by other stations from the Providence and Cape Cod markets and you can get 2 or 3 different stations on your radio without even leaving your chair!

One long distance one in the west comes to mind: 107.9 KUDD Roy/Ogden, UT and KBKL Grand Junction, CO from certain hilltops in east central Utah (along I-70).
